Did I not predict this would be written on the previous page? When it's one of "them", it's a "silly and honest mistake".
You certainly did.
Such a fresh, nuanced take by Sage, who has always acted like he has a hardline stance. This really is simple, she was using a masking agent while she was also ramping up training, getting sponsorships, and trying to get back into competing. We can all imagine why she would be using a masking agent. She would have been competing but for some injuries. She could have got a TUE but didn't.
I'm curious, is Allie still over in France hanging out with the runners at UTMB as a part of her sponsorship with NNormal? I'm sure Camilla will also shy away from saying anything negative about Allie. Which one of them wants to piss off Kilian.
Just a few thoughts on this perspective:
Allie's "build up" matches more closely that of a person who is recovering from an eating disorder. As in it's been pretty difficult, and riddled with spotty training and injuries that bone injuries. It's not the progression of a person on PED's. This is supported by what Sage also said earlier.
Also, maybe try paying attention to Allie's overall story: there are elements to her personality that don't take care of things. She thinks she does everything right but she does a lot of stuff wrong--and it's very, very, very hard for her to understand that she's doing those things wrong. This comes in the form of nutrition, rest, training, overall decision making skills. It is not surprising at all that she would get on a medication, and half ass research it--and then think to herself "I did what I needed to do here!" It's part of her mental illness, and that's part of what is sad here.
While every other NORMAL PERSON would be checking the banned list, for everything they put into their body, she's doing something a little different---and telling herself she did a good job! This little glitch is what makes her an "at risk" person.
Also. if you go to her youtube or intstagram you can see that she's not in France. And are you trying to say CAMILLE? Who is CAMILLA Jesus.

I am not checking out her youtube or insta to see her current location and yes, I meant Camille Herron.
But what is this nonsense about "elements to her personality"? Is that now something people will take into account when they judge if someone should be trusted after they get a violation?
Should irunfar consider that when they report on results like this one from Badwater 135:
Ashley Paulson was sensational. Paulson was the race’s overall winner, and a repeat women’s winner. She gained the ultimate lead late and finished in 21:44. That’s way better than the 24:09 old course record she ran last year. Only 2019 men’s winner Yoshihiko Ishikawa (Japan) has ever run faster, and his 21:33 is only barely faster than what Paulson ran this year.
Second-place Sonia Ahuja finished in 25:42, a time that would win this race most years, and third-place Maree Connor finished in 27:49.
[Editor’s Note: Ashley Paulson served a six-month doping sanction, in 2015 and 2016, due to a doping violation in triathlon for a positive test for ostarine, a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM).]
Maybe Ashley has elements to her personality that make her act recklessly. This is just getting silly. Allie used a masking agent and was caught.
Ok, my bad. Apparently Adult Acne is more common among women than men, although it is difficult to determine whether women are just more bothered by this than men.
However, the presence of acne among high level athletes in their late twenties still raises questions, as fluctuations in hormone levels is the most common cause of acne.
Background: Acne is predominantly known as a skin disorder of the adolescent population. However, current research indicates that the prevalence of adult patients with acne, especially among women, is increasing. Objective: T...

I dismissed this as being nothing until I watched her video. She says researched the drug and then went to an "online dermatologist" to get a specific prescription for that drug. She specifically says she researched the drug to find out if it would benefit athletic performance. So I googled "spironolactone and athletic performance' and this came up instantly at the very top of the search:
Diuretics can promote the excretion of fluids, which can be used to excrete other banned substances in the body, such as performance-enhancing drugs or illegal drugs. By using spironolactone, athletes may attempt to hide or obscure the presence of these substances during drug testing.
How did she not know it was a diuretic and a masking agent if she researched the drug? It seems very weird to me as any even cursory internet search tells you this drug is a diuretic and masking agent.

Okay, well it's very obvious that you don't know anything about the athletes that you are talking about and you aren't willing to do any work to find out the very basic things about them, so I'm not sure why you are here and that also makes replies to you somewhat useless.
You saying Allie O was using a masking agent as part of her build up implies she was also using something to help with her build up--like epo or testosterone, which would imply she was having a great build up--which she clearly hasn't been having as evidenced by her transparent posts and videos--that YOU haven't been following. But yet you made up a story that that HAD happened which is gross. THATS THE POINT. But she HAS posted many, many, many times about her eating disorder recovery, the injuries THAT has caused and the late stage hormone shifts it has also caused--and as I mentioned, part of eating disorders are messed up cognitions which lead to poor decisions (like not checking banned substance list and getting TUE's for medications). Find your facts.
Comparing an athlete like Allie who isn't even competing right now to Ashley Paulson who was banned for SARM's which mimic androgens--and she had good results is a false comparison and also again shows your total lack of knowledge in this arena.
Go sit down and learn before you come back here. It's embarrassing.

That's not what I was meaning at all but I admit it's my fault for being obtuse with my words on here.

Since Allie is one of "them" of course they will now spin the story about how this is an "injustice" and Allie is still allowed. Did you really think they cared about "doping"?
That came from my post where I said this:

I feel bad for Allie. She should be able to compete against people at places like Western States. She should be able to compete and not be listed as a doper by the journalistic sites such as irunfar.com.
USADA popped her for taking a banned substance at a time when she wasn't competing. She doesn't brush it off or make any excuses for it other than explaining the context. I think USADA shouldn't punish people in situations like this (i.e. when they aren't currently competing and it's pretty obvious it's not for a competitive advantage).
I am really curious what the trail/ultra people will say. Particularly Sage, Camilla, and some of the places like irunfar and Trail Society who have come out aggressively against other who have used banned substances.
I've watched almost all of her videos, I listen to her on podcasts, and I'm excited for her career. What I don't like is the way irunfar, Camille, and others treat one violation as if it's as bad as all others.
Let's hope that this violation will open their eyes a little. Yes, it's a masking agent, but as you point out, it's pretty obvious from her transparent training she wasn't doping. I also hope this sad story makes other runners realize they need to check all prescriptions so they don't have to wear this scarlet letter.
That is a horrible take. If you were actually going to use it as a masking agent you would get a TUE first. This isn’t some mastermind plan.
Well, not necessarily. You have to apply before you start taking the drug, which takes time, and just having a prescription from an online dermatologist doesn't mean your TUE will be accepted. Not every TUE application gets accepted (ask Molly); and for acne where there are other medications that are not masking agents to treat a "vanity condition" (not a life or death medical condition), it's far from a sure thing she'd get a TUE. On the other hand, forgetting to apply for a TUE lets you use the drug as a masking agent with a much better excuse than a burrito to get a 4 month instead of a 4 year ban.
I'm not saying she was using it as a masking agent, the whole story is just weird. And unlike Sage, I find the use of masking agents very troubling and normally think they are equally serious as being caught for the underlying drug being masked.
Its all said and done now, decisions have been made and the ban served so it all doesn't matter and I will accept it was an oversight. But, for me, her story is very problematic.

Exactly. I did the same internet search (even using Bing in addition to google as they sometimes yield different search results) and the fact that spironolactone is a banned substance, and a masking agent immediately comes up. In fact, USADA's webpage on Spironolactone is literally the second result using both google and bing . I could understand her making a mistake if she saw her dermatologist in person, and he or she prescribed it to her, but she says that she researched the drug before she sought an online dermatologist. She's either lying about having researched the drug beforehand as a way to show people that she knew the drug was not performance enhancing in and of itself, or she knew it was banned and took it anyway without getting a TUE, or she possibly tried to get a TUE, but was denied. This just seems strange that an elite athlete who has been tested numerous times would be so clueless about the status of a prescription drug that she claims to have researched.

Exactly.
If you take her story at face value it is "haha what a silly and honest mistake"
If you question the situations it is fairly damning for her. The potential for a huge performance benefit is there.
Sorry I don't give convicted dopers the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, at first I was thinking "dumb mistake" on her part. However, spironolactone is not even the most commonly used drug for treating acne. There are other more commonly used non-prescription and prescription drugs for treating acne that are not on USADA's list of banned substances, such as benzol peroxide (over the counter), and tretinoin which my 15 year old son was briefly prescribed, and even doxycycline (also permitted by USADA). Spironolactone is typically the last drug to be prescribed for acne if other treatments (including prescription treatments) have been ineffective. It is strange that her first choice of drug to use for acne was the substance that is clearly banned and that she sought an online dermatologist specifically to ask for this drug. If you wanted to treat acne, wouldn't you go to the dermatologist first and ask for recommendations about treatment, rather than google a drug and then try and find a doctor to prescribe this specific drug to you? Very strange.

Ok, I re-watched her video, and she says that she went to the online dermatologist first, and was then was prescribed spironolactone. After getting prescribed spironolactone she claims to have researched the drug before taking it. It's impossible to research this drug without immediately finding out that it is banned and that she would need a TUE. If you are an elite athlete, wouldn't the first thing you would want to know when getting a new prescription medication is whether or not it is a banned substance? This is not just a dumb little mistake, it is a stunningly stupid mistake for someone who has been running professionally for several years.
Gwen Berry got a suspension on the same day for the same drug. Seems she also made the same mistake, just didn't get that TUE. Obviously if you believe Alli then you also believe Gwen, just as oversight to get a TUE.

4 mo time served seems indicative of how sus USADA is of her? Is there a smaller sentence?
Of note, Aldactone works by DEEEcreasing testosterone! Small tidbit that does fit in with everyone's conspiracy here. Its used for acne in older women and would be a terrible performance enhancer. Possibly the worst ever.

It is masking agent lol. By itself it isnt a PED. You don't use JUST aldactone.
You use it and the acne prescription so you get 4 months instead of 4 years.
