In Idaho? There’s no possibility of the DA not going for the death penalty. Any proponent of the death penalty will want Kohberger executed.

I'm very confused about the roommate that saw the guy and just went back to bed. If I saw someone in my house in a mask after I was already under the impression something was wrong I would at the very least go check where he came from. I'm trying to imagine myself just ignoring that and I can't. This isn't to say I think they were involved, it is just a very odd reaction.

After hearing the noises and seeing the stranger, you'd think she would have at least sent a text to one of the other roommates after locking herself in her room.

These are sorority types that were either drunk or high. Their behavior doesn't seem suspect to me.

It is in the realm of possibility that she was drunk, or whatever, AND that she could have thought the man had been an invited guest of a roommate who was leaving, and that if he was an invited guest, that could explain some strange noises that woke her.

University of Idaho has a pretty soiled reputation with alcohol abuse. Former Boise State President described it this way in 2010 when they cancelled the in-state football rivalry: "It's a culture that is nasty, inebriated.”

The witness encounter without calling the police suggests some normalcy to seeing unknown people in the house but the mask would make it someone she was uncomfortable with yet not enough to call the authorities. One of the girls had a door dash delivery at 4am. So there seems as if there was a lot going on in the house at all ours.

There's no doubt the roommate D. M. (and probably everyone else) was drunk and/or high on a late Saturday night after the frat parties and bars have closed. But its still bizarre behavior, even if drunk/high, to be alarmed/concerned enough by what she heard at 4am to open her door and see what was going on three times, and then see an unidentified male in a mask leave the house, and then decide to just go back to bed.

Maybe, but according to the Affidavit, she told the cops that when the unidentified masked male walked past her, she was in "frozen shock phase" which suggests that she didn't think this was a normal or explainable occurrence. It makes it even stranger that she did nothing except, apparently, go back to bed until around noon the next day.

The roommate behavior is just weird, although her behavior is ultimately of no consequence to the investigation or prosecution of Kohberger (and probably just recited in the Affidavit to show an unidentified male was actually in the house at the time of the murders).

RE #2: Cell tower triangulation can be as accurate as 400m. You are just speculating without knowing the details of the data. Combined with video footage of his car in the area it is not good for him.

It is very easy in hindsight to imagine how a rational person would supposedly act. However it was 4:00 am after a night of partying, she did not know the murders had happened or that any crime was committed, the house apparently had people coming and going like a dorm, and we are talking about some college kid in Moscow, Idaho where there was probably zero crimeand the doors are unlocked. Seeing the guy probably freaked her out initially, but she then just assumed it was nothing.

The same with all these people online wondering why no one apparently screamed for help. The girl who was apparently up after a very late night probably froze with fear and a stab victim would likely go into shock immediately.

I would not mind if they find the guy hanging from a tree some morning in the near future. Good riddance.

I would be curious if they did computer and social media account searches. Some level of cyberstalking was going on in addition to the rest.

It is almost certain that there will be evidence of this. Pulling that data is now standard procedure. Additionally, any scrolling he did from his car will have left even more details on his locations.

Turning his phone off for a couple hours in the middle of the night is laughable. Only thing more obvious is keeping it on and connecting to their Wi-Fi.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to speculate (and not sure I really did speculate). My point was the same as your point, that from the Affidavit we don't know the cellular tower coverage, so we don't know how close Kohberger was to the King Road house on the 12 occasions mentioned in the Affidavit. He could have been miles away. Cell towers can transmit and receive over 15 miles, and common coverage in a suburban environment is 1/4 mile to 2 miles. When the media reports or implies, as I have seen them do, that Kohberger drove by the King Road house 12 times in the preceding three months, they are inaccurate, confused and misleading.

The big rumour on Reddit is that DM had taken Molly and was afraid to contact police and fell asleep wondering if what she saw was real.

Sad and interesting story, but it doesn't seem to show that he was proven innocent. It is quite easy to believe he was not treated fairly including never receiving a fair trial and that no appropriate concern for his young age was shown regardless of his involvement or lack of in the crime. Despite the theories debated in recent years, the record can't prove anything more than it was handled very badly, especially by today's standards.

Maybe it was a surgical mask or it appeared like it was meant to function as one. That was my first thought from the description (eyes were visible).

Like I said, you are just speculating. The coverage maps for that area look pretty good. The area one tower covers doesn’t matter. Towers always overlap which makes using your phone in a car possible.

Overlapping towers makes triangulation with three or more towers and signal strength possible. Usually, this will be pretty darn accurate. If this was a 5G area it would be highly accurate. Obviously, they will bring in an expert witness to describe how this works to the jury if there is a trial.

Point being, it is way more likely that they will be able to identify a close circle of his location in the area than you are suggesting.

I don't think you are reading the posts that you are responding to. I'm not speculating. Pointing out a lack of information is not speculating.

You are disputing things I never suggested. My point was, and remains, that the Affidavit does not give any information of the range of "utilized cellular resources that provide coverage to the area of 1122 King Road." [Affidavit page 16]. It could be 400 meters as you previously suggested (which is still not an insignificant distance) or it could be that a phone a mile away in downtown Moscow will use the same cellular resources as those at 1122 King Road. We don't know, although you seem to claim you know. If you think the cellular coverage maps you say you've reviewed will shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it if you post where they can be found.

Any media sources suggesting that Kohberger drove by the King Road residence 12 times in the last 3 months are confused and misleading -- that information cannot be derived from the Affidavit, not even by an expert on the design of cellular networks.
