The most useful thing about this thread is that it temporarily makes you forget there is a war in Ukraine, a world climate crisis, and a terminal decline in US democracy. It's good to get things in perspective.
however (only credentials is I have run at the collegiate level and now sub elite level) and the phenom era that follows a rapid weight loss in an already talented athlete typically doesn’t translate quite as well in strength-favoured courses
Right I don't think she posted any times as a senior either. There also was this covid outbreak. So? She says she did 20-30 mpw in hs and his now higher. But coach says 20-30 mpw now.
How could this be any more clear. He states right there in the video that this is her training right now, not in 2021.
are you slow? She said she was doing 0-30 mpw in hs but has upped her mileage. He says she is doing 20-30 mpw now.
But what kind of mileage, in both cases? Is practically all of the ground-running now closer to threshold or above, while in HS was she including warm-up and cool-down miles? We don’t know. Cook’s answer was also somewhat shocking too, but then she said she doesn’t even do warm-up miles with Roe.

(Kudos to Gault for getting the footage.)
well she did not say the training was more intense she said she has upped her mileage.

There is a video interview from back then (maybe on milesplit?) in which she says she injured her hip, not from running, but doing a backflip, or other.

Well obviously, we don’t know, and I don’t fault them if they wish to dance around specifics for competitive reasons. But it is a fascinating topic, particularly for us yokels that were not brought up on the idea that volumetric cross-training can substitute for mileage (although we have had triathletes as defacto examples.)
