How many trolls in other countries crap on a young 4th place guy? I’m just asking questions here.
It's not crapping on him. He was clearly good enough to get a medal today and he gave it away with his bad positioning going into the kick. If he was positioned in the top 3 he would have had a good chance to hold on for a medal. That's how well he ran. He had no chance to move up from his bad position.
Unreal that a 25 year old American just finished 4th at Worlds in probably the strongest 10,000 ever assembled on the track and people on Letsrun act like its a massive failure.
Oh and he beat the defending Olympic Champ in this event too. Great race by Fisher, 2023 worlds he takes the next jump to the podium.
I am far from the closest follower of BTC racing schedule, but maybe this is what everyone means when they say you need a little more racing experience -- maybe a few more cuts at the Diamond League allows him to refine his racing tactics and gain confidence he can hang with these guys a little quicker. On the other hand, hard to argue with the result.
L takes all around from some of the people here. As soon as I clicked on this thread I knew it would be full of people sh*tting on fisher after he ran an amazing race. 4th might not be a medal but its still a great placement in a field like this. Best of luck to Fisher in the 5k, repping the US very well on the track.

It’s like I said about our 1500m runners yesterday: they’re too dedicated to the rail. They do not know how to race on a world level. Fisher would’ve done better if he had spent the last mile in line 1.5-2. He could’ve passed a lot easier to be in a better position to kick in the last 200.
Fun Fact: No one cares what moronic dissection you make of the race. The 10k isnt scored as a XC meet. They're racing individually for one of the top-3 spots.

It’s not the 4th that’s a failure. It’s the effort.

And while I understand front running at all times is not practical, if the whole field is running like cowards, someone has to decide they actually want to participate in a good faith race. These guys are too talented to be doing things like running 14 minute opening 5ks. It’s just very disappointing once again.
Would have loved to see Fisher take it with 4 laps to go and really crank it. Not sure it would have improved his chance at a medal but would have been fun as hell to watch!
