Not me but several other posters did by stating that she beat world class runners. I merely helped people define it by pointing out that 4:12 isn't a national class time so it certainly isn't a world class time. I pointed out that it is a nice time in the NCAA which brought it back to the reality of what it is. You need to blast the posters who claimed that she beat world class runners because they were the ones who compared her to them by making that flase statement.

FastTuohy is one of her biggest fans on this site. I assume that he would not disagree with that statement. I am a realist and so is he. Tuohy is a great NCAA runner. She has not run national class times and certainly has not run world class times. Don't make it more than it is and I won't make it less than it is.

You are the one when continues to make it sound like she is world class by claiming that hse beat pros and now you are trying to make it sound like she beat a "world class" runner.

the OG standards are 4.04.2 and 1.59.5. That is what truly world class is now. Others make it to the OG through the ranking system to fill out fields. There are many with the Standard who don't make their OG teams as others beat them in trials races. The USA has this situation more than most countries as many (sprints mostly) can make the standard.

As to Meyer. as a Pro this is very early season for her if she plans to peak for trials. Tuohy has just gone through a competitive NCAA indoor season. So she is bound to be a lot sharper. That being said, Meyer (more of a 800m runner than a Miler) certainly didn't run fast for a world-class runner as that is far from a world-class time even if it isn't her main event. The fact that she got out-kicked by someone as slow as Tuohy, should really concern her and her coach if the 1500m is in her plans for the trials.

I can agree with that. I question some of those who detract from her performance (or question her future), but also those who I think are portraying things too optimistically. And the same for other runners.

OK aszshat, I'm 70 yrs old and I didn't make that comment. I am fully capable of understanding that when pros choose to run a tactical race the winning time will not be a "world class" time. It's stupid youngsters like you who screw up the argument because of poor reading comprehension skills who try to claim that beating world class competition must mean you ran a world class time. Apparently, they have never seen a tactical race, or they're just little jerks like you.

Michaela Meyer is a world class 800m runner... She has been top 40 in the world 4 over 2 years...

And meyer is 79 in the 1500m. Which I don't consider to be world-class but not too far off...

The Olympics aims for 60 competitors in each event so if your top 60, your world class!

The Olympics takes 60 competitors from around the world... So if you are in the mix of potentially being in that top 60 you are world class...

World class, meaning when the world has you know a big sporting event in your sport, you are potentially in the mix of being invited

Class is synonymous with group... So you know when a big group of people get together who are the best in the world, you would potentially bbe in the mix...
