So how did this grand strategy of "making Russia dependent on the West" work out? Actually we should ask the Ukrainians who are dying at this very moment. Wrong.....The U.S. is not energy independent. We import millions of barrel of oil a day from other OPEC nations. We are by far the largest consumer of crude oil on the planet and do not produce enough oil to sustain our demand.
