Wow that was epic! Would have loved Tim to win but Jakob too strong, impressive. Josh Kerr almost silver! Fourth place sub 3.30

Kerr saved Danny's job.
MF JAKOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta say not a fan of how he ran off and congratulated NO ONE though. Kinda weird.
And Vetter bombs in the javelin. Insane!

Tim doing it. Hocker nowhere.
3:31ish moving up the entire race. Wow
Hocker ran a great race. He closed strong off his PB. He’s not ready for Jakob….yet, but he will be in a year or two.
3:29.05 for bronze! That's insane. This is the game now, fast, tactical finals. Great run for Kerr, he called his shot and even though he didn't hit gold, that's a massive achievement. So pleased for Jakob to take the gold as well - absolutely NOBODY beasts Jakob Ingebrigtsen 13 times in a row
Viking Power
Jakob did it with style.
Easy win.
Anybody else think Jakob baited Tim to go to the front? Or would he have done anyway?
Seriously though, 2 awkward bodied boys from Norway take 2 gold medals in incredible times against people who look like like they're from central casting in their event. I'm not saying this smells but the whole Norwegian olympic team doesn't look the part for the times they're putting down, even that Triathlon guy.
Unbelievable race.
Good for LRC podcast pointing out the ridiculous Kerr betting odds…
I think many had him to win at absurd #s but probably a fair amount of people had him to medal to at probably at least 5:1, good stuff
Not bad for a guy with no KICK.
Cracking race. Wish most championship races went like that. Jakob finally gets the win. Hocker with a PB. Americans finally have a prospect who can run fast times

Hocker got it wrong tactically. He hung back and missed a move around 450 to go. But this is a great Olympics for him. 20 years old, first international champs, walks away with a 3:31 PB. He's the future of US distance running. Now he has to figure out how to get near Jakob

NORGE!!
+1. Cole has been training to race surfer bros and Yared Nuguse for the majority of the year. The Ingebrigtsen factory has been prepping him for this race since he was 17. Cole's time will come.
Cole's 3:31.40 PB --- EXPECT GREAT THINGS in the future!!!

He probably was never running the 3:29 flat it took to get bronze, I think it made sense to hang under the assumption that if it was a race he could medal in, there’d be some sit and kick aspect

I thought this exactly. That was the perfect tactic on Jakob's part -- definitely won him the gold. Didn't look like Tim was himself and was not prepared to lead at least in the early stages of the race.
