Calm the F**K Down! - What is wrong with everyone?

Everyone is aware of the flu data/number of deaths so why do you and others keep drawing attention to it, as if that will actually calm people down?

Do you suppose the heads of universities and school districts that make decisions to shut down are not aware of it? Do you suppose top health officials are not aware of it?

What exactly is the point of your post? Maybe you should think about what people are actually reacting to. 39000 people died in car accidents last year. Why do you suppose people are not afraid of riding in a car but a few hundred die of coronavirus and people panic?

Here is an email I received today. This is from one of the most respected bio-informatics minds in the world.

“We should be planning for 100mm cases in U.S. and 5-10mm extra hospitalizations (currently ~31mm without babies). This could be really bad.“

Again, I’m going to go ahead and listen to those that actually know what they are talking about. You come across like an absolute amateur.

I’m confused. The basis of your argument is that my wife’s advanced degrees that are highly pertinent to this subject are not meaningful because the US healthcare system is private and payers and health systems exercise broad control over its economics. What do these two things have to do with one another?

I get it, you and facts matter have an uneducated contrarian view of the world that probably manifests in many different subjects. You also probably question global warming and other conventional evidence based science. This just happens to be a particularly dangerous time to be a moron.

This coronavirus has me scared. I'm scared that if some sort of real catastrophe struck, we'd be screwed. We've led such pampered lives the last several decades that large segments of the population seem incapable of dealing with adversity. God help us.

Facts don't lie. The Coronavirus is not causing most people to get sick. All the measures that have been takes have been to slow the rate of infection. Infection doesn't kill people. Stop being a sheep!

For those who keep saying that COVID is like the flu doesn't understand the reason why doctors and scientists are freaking out. As COVID continues to spread, it has the potential to mutate. If it mutates then the likelihood of it becoming just an one time event when somebody eats some tainted meat years increases exponentially. COVID becomes another annual event on top of influenza and our healthcare system isn't equipped for simultaneous flu and COVID outbreaks. Imagine getting the flu and COVID at the same time... that's a death sentence even for a healthy person.

You won't have the capacity and the virus is most likely all across US by now. Most people will start to get symptoms by the fifth day, most will be good in two weeks, but some will get worse during the second week. That happens as a result of the virus causing inflammation in the lungs. After that some people get failure to live and so on. Then they need ventilators. Ventilators you don't have enough of. And you will also most likely run short on "disease protection clothing"

That's your problem right there. What I gave you were facts, what your expert gave you was an opinion. You just seem too stupid to know the difference.

I'll say it one more time.

Everyone is reacting to rate of infection rather than the rate of illness. Reporting every day how many "new" infections there are, is unproductive and irrelevant. Increased infection rate is a product of increased testing, not increased virus spread.

You are also worried about the healthcare system collapsing. As I posted previously, there have been 16 million medical visits pertaining to influenza and the healthcare system did just fine. Those are the CDC's numbers, not my made up guess.

Treatments do kill people though.

Almost every person who has died from the cv19 has been treated for it, many of them in hospitals.
