Kipchoge’s Car/Tire Comments Prove He’s An Idiot

You did not have to make person attacks to state over past fifty years, humans are faster for largely two reasons:

1) Greater global participation. Since Africa has had African Games and African Championships held every couple years, more Africans are participating so Africans are showing their upper limits.

2) Shoes/spikes/track surfaces.

Runners have been running up to 200 miles a week since 1970s. Runners have been doing track workouts since 18 Century. Runners have been lifting weights and doing plyometrics since 1970s on a regular basis. Shoe are going to be the difference.

You did not have to say more than I did. It was not necessary to make attacks toward any runner.

Is it that the shoes give a benefit? Nike knows that. The benefit is in the NAME of the shoe.

Is it that Kipchoge is really just another run-of-the-mill 2:05 guy that would not have as many accomplishments without the shoes?

The point is not that any other runner would still not bear him, but that Kipchoge with the shoes would beat Kipchoge without the shoes. The shoes make a difference. Kipchoge would still be the best, (or second best if Bekele ever got his act together) but he wouldn’t be running sub 2:02.

As somebody mentioned earlier, if it's really not the shoes, then it should be easy for Kipchoge to back that up, at least if the shoes are still legal when London rolls around. All he has to do is line up in a regular pair of racing shoes from 5 years ago or so, while all the other elites are in Vaporflys, If he's not willing to do that, then he doesn't truly believe it's not about the shoes.

It’s obviously not a question in his mind nor do I believe it’s a notion worth disproving given the amount of time and effort that goes into a buildup for him.....just like everyone else, he’ll choose whichever shoe most suits him as opposed to what shoe YOU think he should wear. If Kipchoge is right now promising "something special" at London, he's already mentally intimidating everyone, including Bekele. That's all Kip needs to say, which can be paraphrased as "I'm going at out at WR pace, and will finish at WR pace. I can finish the final 5k as fast as I need to destroy any hangers-on. Enjoy the competition for 2nd place."
