Im arrogant? For being informed and rejecting the likelihood the OP is correct. If you were a doctor and a patient came in and told you that he had the flu, but after a few hours of drinking it went away? Would you prescribe alcohol in the future for the flu?
I'm guessing no, because there is a tremendous amount of evidence suggesting that alcohol consumption does not fight the flu and actually decreases the strength of immune system.
Same here. Mountain of research that's shows that even small amounts of alcohol can have a dramatic, consistent impact on sleep quality and a whole bunch of research that shows we are horrible at recognizing how impaired we are from less than ideal sleep.
This is similar to if someone came to me and said their house was red. I would believe them. However if I'd read a dozen articles from the local paper and talked to a few townsfolk all saying it was obnoxious he had just painted his house neon green...I would be significantly less likely go believe him.

The "sleep" you are getting is not quality sleep, so you aren't gaining anything for yourself.
Plus alcohol is one of the worst substances you can put into your body. Take some CBD or vape some dry flower of an indica strain if you need help sleeping. I don't understand why alcohol is legal when cannabis is not. Posts like this simply further my confusion.
I used to think that too until I saw it with my own eyes. As little as 2 shots (or standard drinks of any alcohol) per day over a relatively short period of time does in fact cause dependence or rather at least noticeable and unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.

It's not just "alcohol is bad" (it's way worse), it's that one never knows what tragic consequences will follow when one starts drinking. I've seen talented, athletic, smart and nice people turn into disasters. They only had few drinks at night or only drank beer. The ruin on family and other relationships is part of the damage that occurs. You never know if it will be you.

Epidemiogical studies are always swinging in slight flux between "nah moderate drinking probably isn't bad or even a little healthy" and "modest drinking is a little unhealthy".

Most recently a very large analysis of nearly 1k studies was done, this one leaning towards "negative outweigh positives (although positives were found with respect to heart health and a few other things in modest consumption):
