Right on great post!
That's crazy that Upstate New York has so many top distance runners. Thanks for pointing that out!

Horrible pacing by her. She’s done.

What an idiotic comment. I hope the idiots who say this aren't coaching anyone, ever.
One off race does not declare her or any other athlete "done". She had girls catch her, which has not happened in three years of racing, she responded to the competition and still won on an "off day". The margin of victory doesn't matter. This wasn't some small dual meet, these other few girls are fantastic runners. They had the races of their lives, and she had, feeling-wise, a not-so-good one.

They've got a great tradition of running up there FM Manlius kinetic
North Rockland Tully runners
I don't know why people would choose to argue with and nitpick over whether it's 10 miles or 50 miles who cares we get your point man. Awesome job. Way to point out pretty cool thing
You're digging yourself in deeper. It's not nitpicking. Rockland is not "upstate" its 200 miles south of the other schools.
She needs to learn how to race smarter. Hopefully she survives the next few years which will be tough.
Only in high school do you see the top runners take off from gun and attempt to lead wire-to-wire.
Next fall, in college, she'll learn to run with the front pack then make her move later in the race.
Every major invitational meet as well as conference, regional and NCAA championship races are that way. Even Weini Kelati waited until almost 3k to make her move at NCAAs last month.

unbeaten in the last 3 years of XC ... I don't know, maybe I'll give her the benefit of the doubt..
Why would she not take that approach if she wins with it....if it doesn't work at the NCAA level, then she will alter and adapt.
I'm going to ask this question...and it is purely out of curiosity as I feel I am missing something...
I repeatedly see people saying she can't run in the same manner in the NCAA's (XC and track) - but her 5000 m indoor time of 15:37.12 would have placed her 3rd at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships - is this not proof that she can run the same style and be quite successful?
I'm not arguing that maybe she could be even better if she does things differently, I will need to rely on smarter track people for that...but why fix something that isn't broken?
sounds like Tuohy is planning to still run the USATF Club nats this weekend...has anyone heard otherwise??

Has set the course record on every course she has ever run (incredible!)!!!
Holds the national record for a 5K cross-country race
Has 10 of the top 13 highest speed ratings ever for a girl!
Has led every race for the last 3 years from start to finish
And when she found herself in a super tough race in Crazy conditions she pulled out the win like a champ!
Also she's a super nice person. Awesome teammate. Very supportive about the runners and is really really dedicated as a runner and also in academics and everything else!
Nice summary. Yes, undeniably the GOAT of girls high school cross country. Of all the amazing facts listed, the course records are even more amazing once you dive into how many she set and by how much and who held the previous records (these were almost all not "soft" records). Here's a summary:
Central Park, Schnectady (4.5k) - Grout Invitational – previous record 15:10 – Tuohy ran 14:38 freshman year and then 14:07 sophomore year
Van Cortlandt (4k) – Manhattan HS Invitational – This was her big break-out race – previous record 13:54 – Tuohy ran 13:22 sophomore year and then 13:33 senior year- note that Claire Walters (13:46) and Brooke Rauber (13:52) both broke the old record this year
Bear Mountain (3 mile) – Tuohy’s home course - previous record 16:28 by Aisling Cuffe (Footlocker winner) – Tuohy ran 16:25 early sophomore year and then 15:55 later that year – 15:56 as a junior – 16:08 as a senior
Wayne High School (5k) - 2017 NY State Championship – Course only used twice – Tuohy ran 17:51 at state meet (Kelsey Chmiel 2nd in 18:32) breaking 18:06 set in pre-state meet
Bowdoin Park (5k) – previous record Aisling Cuffe in 17:16 – Tuohy ran 17:10 as sophomore at sectionals, 16:52 at NY Feds and 17:01 at NXR – junior year set current record of 16:45 at sectionals and then 17:14 at NXR – senior year 17:14 at sectionals, 17:02 at NY Feds, 17:07 at NXR – 8 fastest times in Bowdoin history – other names on all-time Bowdoin list include Cuffe, Chmiel, Walters Rauber, Jessica Lawson, Nicole Blood, Mary Cain, Molly Huddle
Goddard Park (5k) - Ocean State Invitational – previous record 17:35 by Chmiel – Tuohy ran 16:07 as a junior– fastest 5k in history
Holmdel Park (5k)–previous record by Megan Venables 17:28 (5th at FL that year) – Tuohy ran 16:21 as a junior – speed rating of 177
Sunken Meadow (5k)– previous record 17:45 by Cuffe – junior year Tuohy ran 16:53 at Suffolk Invitational and then 17:02 at NY States
WakeMed (5k) - Great American – previous record 16:36 by Nevada Moreno – Tuohy ran 16:23 as a senior – NCAA meet held week before on same course with winning time of 16:46 by Elly Henes of NC State who later finished 10th at NCAAs
NXN (5k) - previous record 16:57 by Katie Rainsberger - 16:45 as a sophomore and 16:37 as a junior
For those who like to harsh on Tuohy for only breaking one course record this year (Great American), remember that she actually broke previous course records at Van Cortlandt, Bowdoin (3 times), and Bear Mountain - she just didn't break her own astonishing records!
Okay you seem to know your stuff
I'd give Tuohy the goat of boys or girls high school cross-country running
No boy or girl has ever dominated like her over 3 Seasons
But since you know your stuff let me ask you
So where she going to college? And where do you think she should go to college? Why did she sidon the school she did and what other schools should she have considered

No inside info here. Just had enough time to do a little digging and research. I live in Section 1 and my son ran cross country and overlapped with Katelyn so I have had the pleasure of seeing her run a number of times. I was pretty familiar with her general stats, but didn't really appreciate just how impressive they were until pulling them all together in one place.

Those are crazy numbers....she is something else!
Hannah Steelman is transferring to NC State. She finished 23rd at nationals in the fall. What are they going to do with all of these runners? Where did they find another scholarship?

It’s gonna be a solid fab 5 then if the fall season happens. Tuohy, Chmiel, Steelman, Starliper, Walters.
I don’t see how another team will possibly challenge them.
Stanford will.
Everyone back from 3rd place team @ NCAAs save Fiona O'Keefe.
Dudek incoming frosh along with Tori Starcher.
Much bigger question: will there be fall sports?
I’m definitely pulling for the Wolfpack to win NCAA, but there is no doubt that Stanford is the favorite to win it all right now with all the experience they are returning. They only lost their #3, the Pack lost their #1, and they beat the Pack. But I do think NC State could beat them if the the incoming class runs as they should, but freshman are unpredictable. For example, Tuohy’s best CC year was by far her sophomore year. It was her best Nike speed rating, and she declined every NXN since then. Starliper is the one to watch! She has made big improvements every single season of her High School career and is on par with Tuohy. That is what colleges are looking for. It was said on Let’s Run Podcast after CC Nationals, that Starliper would be better than Tuohy in college.
That being said, there is no arguing at all that Tuohy is the GOAT in high school Cross Country!!!
But in Track, there is no contest....Mary Cain is the GOAT of High School distance running!!!!!
too bad she peaked in high school. look at he muscularity, not going to gain anymore. she's done.

Hendrix and Schulz will be good too. Hendrix will probably follow a similar trajectory to former training partner Hertenstein, who was an All-American this year (although she had better races this season). Clairmonte, Howlett, Shaw, Mareno, and Zachgo all return as well. They have a very deep team.
