If it was just ephedrine, he might have - but it was three other banned substances, some of which aren't even legal for human consumption.

I wasn't saying he wasn't cheating or anything like that, I was just saying I don't think his claim was a nose spray, it was an "oral nasal decongestant" which is a pill or liquid. Don't really matter in the end. Cannot believe some guys would take EPO to run 1:08/2:33.

Really surprised this guy runs 1:08 but can't break 2:30 in the marathon.

Why not? Sub-elites and age-group competitors all want to run faster these days. Society puts such an important emphasis on performance vs participation. If you're just an average runner you're made fun of and characterized as a "hobby jogger" along with other derogatory names. No body likes a slow poke loser - even at lowest of the competitve amateur levels.

A lot of these runners see what the elites are taking and think that if it works for the elites then it will work for them. Look at all the low-T centers cropping up all over the U.S. and the heavy advertising of these businesses. I wonder how master athletes in running, cycling, XC-skiing, powerlifting, etc. are using testosterone replacement therapy? They're not going to tell anyone - it's just their little secret.

Many sub-elites, amateurs & highly competitive masters athletes are all obsessed with winning...no surprises there. ?

If a sub elite amateur is doping, it just shows you there’s absolutely no way the pros are not using whatever they can to get an edge.

Dangerous stuff to take especially when you are running a marathon. I cannot fathom how he finished 2:33 with DNP in his system. Suicidal if you ask me, it has gotta be very hot and dehydrating for him.

thats actually really sad.

I've always suspected the top masters in my age group were doping, especially when they're running similar times at 40-50 years old as when they were in college . This certainly helps my assumption.

Maybe he fell into the wrong crowd?

Crazy. DNP is more of a poison than a drug. Incredibly dangerous.

There must me some sort of mistake here because everyone knows that Canadians don't dope.

I'm even surprised this guy got tested because CCES operates on the assumption that Canadians don't dope, and as such, they hardly test anyone.

In fact, they're the only NADO in the world that doesn't have the word "doping" in their name. Why you ask? Well, if there's no doping in Canada, why talk about it???

Like that big guy that just ran 2:09. He's Canadian, that's how I know he's clean.

Maybe I missed it but how did this guy even get tested? I think there are, unfortunately, some people in this range that dope and even master's runners still trying to be competitive.
