Hey, man. Most of us are sane. There's a small, VERY vocal minority (not ethnic minority, a population minority) that create a huge online presence giving the illusion that we're all obsessed with identity politics.
Our main problem is that our moderate left is absolutely terrified to speak out against these fringe folk publicly because it will cost them dearly. It seems like the tide is shifting a bit, people are starting to call these people idiots again (Dave Chappelle for example). For a while I had lost hope, I know it won't be an immediate turn, but I do feel hopeful that we can be back to normal in a few years.

I went to a XC invitational last weekend. It had way more recent immigrants of African descent than blacks from slavery ancestry. I guess we only hold back the former slaves, like where is your paper work dude, oh it's o.k you just got here, you can run.

Yes though it would be great if people of ALL GROUPS got into running at any level, I really enjoyed it for over 30 years, before an injury that ended that hobby, I really miss it.
Same here - I thought it would be about East African dominance in the distance; West African (and their descendants) in the sprints. Watching the Worlds, it is absolutely clear - complete and total dominance on all fronts.
However, we whiteys don't complain about this obvious (natural) athletic dominance (or the lack of 'diversity' in basketball and football either.., nor the various 'diversity' programmes aimed at bolstering black performances in academic/professional endeavours [eg. +200 points for anyone even part black on SATS, an outrageously racist academic policy that is lowering standards everywhere, particularly in engineering, maths and sciences degrees, where many of these 'diversity' students simply have no place in the programmes they get in to with - in reality - quite low scores...]; then there are the 'diversity' recruitment drives etc. that favour non-whites to the point of outright racism). However, every time there is a [obviously natural] DIFFERENCE in proclivities and talents that just so happens to favour white people, there is an uproar, and it is always attributed to RACISM, rather than the obvious natural difference in terms of (population-based) talents and (said) proclivities. This 1/2 white bloke is moaning about front covers in trail running, in which I'd guess less than 5% of participants would identify as African American (or black, or whatever the PC term is now).

Black people dont really live where trail running is big. Thats -pretty dumb he should take a geography course before these accusations. Black people are in urban areas and the southeast rural areas. Thats 99% of them.
Side note. I have met Joe ...hes probably the cockiest man in the sport and most people try to not talk to him

And if he took a DNA test he'd find out that he's overwhelmingly white. Probably 30-35% black.
And gee, I wonder which part of his genetic background pulled him towards short shorts and hanging around a bunch of white people his whole life.
Even back in high school, this guy probably wasn't drawn to the football field, he was drawn towards the white and nerdy cross country team.
So because of his life-long identity crisis, he lashes out at white people, because it's easier than being honest with himself about his own identity issues.
You can be sure that whatever black kids he knew growing up didn't think of him as "black black", and let him know about it.

College courses wouldn't teach him anything, except that everything is white people's fault.
So he should team up with someone like Knox Robinson and use Black Roses to promote black Americans in distance and trail running, pro and recreational. If he were interested in building something, getting his hands dirty with real work in a contributory manner, he could move to Aurora, CO and teach and coach black kids at a high school there. Asking for handouts from the white guilt brigade in a whiny voice isn't ever going to be authentic or sustain. Maybe the reason he doesn't see other runners rally to him has far more to do with what he's carrying inside him than his skin tone.

Imagine somebody saying the following, to paraphrase a white liberal upthread talking about Joe Gray and blacks and running:
'This is a complex problem that so many try to oversimplify.
I believe having white role models would help draw more whites into basketball.'
Everybody would call that person racist, and ask, 'what's wrong with black role models for white kids who want to play basketball?'
Also notice that Joe Gray is not only admitting that black kids are generally too racist to follow white role models, but Joe Gray is also basically blaming white people in the running world for not magically creating enough black role models to attract racist black kids to trail running.
Yeah, if the trail running world needs one thing, it's a bunch of racist black kids lurking in the woods on the trails.
Who, the 1/1024 black man? Why does that not surprise me. Maybe someone could set up a go fund me and we could all pay restitution to this moron. Better yet we should do what professional schools do and have a quota, let's dumb down the standards. It shouldn't matter that less people follow trail running and the ones that due don't give a crap what color the best athletes are; a certain number of black trail runners have a right to be held up like they are Bolt!
The only real question in all this is: WTF is "PR lotion" and why would any sane, self-respecting person use it?
