You don't get credit for what you didn't do, but Rupp's 3:50i mile and a 12:49 10k almost certainly he could have run much better than a 12:58 5k.
Jakob Ingebrigsten 13:02 5K to Rupp's 12:58 5K is a comparision between athletes, there is no comparision between coaches. Coaching athltetes to WMMs victories won mutiples World and Olympics medals, Alberto is without a doubt among the worlds greatest coaches. Btw, none of this is meant to take away from Jakob Ingebrigsten becasue is probably going to win some global championship medals, but to compare Alberto to Gjert is stupid.

I have a question for all guys that think Rupp was unable to run faster than 12:59. When you ran the 5 and 10 in college, could you run the 10K at your 5K pace mile pace plus 6-8 seconds?
Many people can run 14:10 and 29:10, for example. It is not that unusual. Why would I believe you, no offense, in terms of Rupp's 5000m ability, as opposed to the many races where Rupp showed that 13 flat was close to his limit. Rupp showed this time after time, but somehow YOU know better?

Yeesh. You are a thick one. My 6 year old nephew would understand this. The really good runners took leads during the latter stages of all of those races mentioned. The problem was that the races themselves were not fast. Too many 64 second laps. Are you following so far? They were decently paced races (but not truly fast), and they had fast closes. Rupp was not known for super fast closes but could hold on to a fast pace for a long time. Still following? Ok, again, if it was some hotshot or hotshots that decided to go at 12:40 pace and end up with a 12:45, Galen would have been at 12:47 or 48. See how that works? Rupp was at least as good as Farah in the 5,000.
Rupp went to those races either to run a really fast time or run a championship style race. Whichever came. All of those races ended up being championship style and he learned about his closing ability and the improvements needed. He never got a chance to be in a truly fast race and he didn't really care about it since he knew the WCs and Olys would most likely be tactical.

He ‘fell down’ many times toward the 3-4th km, if you think back about his results or lack of results over 5,000m.
Bill Rodgers 5000/10000 PB: 13:42/28:04(4:25 vs 4:31). Many Japanese runners very similar ratio.

Wow! Why would another coach blindly praise Alberto Salazar as much as you're praise him TrackCoach? Weird. When Al Sal prematurely made Mary Cain a 1500m/5000m runner were you praising Al Sal then? Do I need to remind you that Mary Cain was a 1:59.xx 800m runner at age 17. What did 5000m/10000m/Marathon runner Al Sal say to himself: Upon Mary Cain racing 1:59.xx 800m at 17, "Looks like a 5K runner to me!" What he did to Mary Cain also goes on Al Sal's resume.

The equivalency calculaters estimate for 28:04 is 13:28. Why wasn't Rodgers similar to other elite, distance running humans? He rarely ran on the track and his one 5k could have been after having a few beers with Rono the night before.

If you study Salazars and Ingebrigtsens systems you will find a lot of similarity. I believe Salazar coaching Jacob had given
the same results.

You are truly not very bright but you have plenty of company. Take a look at the 2015 Brussels 5000m. Kejelcha runs 12:53 and Galen finishes 10th in 13:08. Now I know if the race had only been FAST, like 12:40, then Galen would have run 12:45, but because it was only a 12:53 race, then somehow Galen runs 13:08. Galen could not run 12:53 in a 12:53 race, but of course if it had only been a 12:40 race he could have run 12:45. This is the logic of you idiot fanboys.
