Get the Nike Pegasus Trail. It’s the best version of Pegasus I’ve ever worn the past 25 years. They split the zoom air, so the forefoot is flexible. They feel great on road or light trail.

+1 I like Nike's but am also refusing to give them my money after their poor decisions. I've always liked Saucony. Particularly the Kinvaras and Freedoms. Type A's are good for track sessions too. I've also heard great things about the Triumphs.

I've had good luck with Asics and Brooks.
So far the longest I've gotten out of a pair of Asics before repair is about ~500 miles.
Right now I've got a pair of Asics GTS2000 that have been repaired 4 times, and have well over ~2k+ miles on them at about 4 years old. Only problem I got now is the sole is separating. Once it separates, I'm going to trash them...
I run my shoes till they are literally no good for anything but the trash... like I run my tires on my vehicles. When the bands are showing, time for new tires. LOL
If I could retread my tires (safely) I would... trust me...

Shoe sucks to soft and slow despite its name. Feels like mush and Zoom X life isn’t very long. About 100 miles before it feels dead.
