Lionel Andres Messi plays football.
Messi was born to play football. HE doesn't force it. When he plays, to use an old cliche, it is POETRY IN MOTION.
On Saturday, April 27th, 2019, he just won La Liga for his team.
Messi plays football and he is GREAT at it.
Every football player is awed by him.
Eliud kipchoge runs the marathon!
I think this was his distance/event and he probably didn't know it. He should have started in 2012 when he didn't make the Olympics. Perhaps he should have started in 2009 or '10.
The other guy who comes along (in this whole thing) is Tiger Woods.
Kipchoge has everything: Stamina, endurance, speed, grit, focus, patience, confidence (he was a little riled by the Ethiopians today but he kept it together), fighting spirit ............
He is also just too lucky that he rarely gets injured. I've never heard of this guy being injured.
I think everyone else will have to give up on him if they haven't until time elapses.
All things being the same, he'll win Tokyo 2020 God willing and then, perhaps run two more years and then, retire in 2022. He might lose in his last two years but that won't put a dent on his stellar record.
Let me be done with my ranting.
There are other guys in this bracket. To mention one (there are more): Christiano Ronaldo. What he has done is more impressive than what Woods have done.
This is my point;
I was trying to get the best guy in every discipline and in football, in my opinion, Messi beats Ronaldo, Pele and Maradona. That is just my opinion.
Michael Jordan would have been a better example than Cristiano.
Cristiano is great, no doubt but Messi is a cut above. Again, that's my opinion.
In the marathon, no one even comes close to Kipchoge.
