I don't understand this idea. The child is equally the father's and the mother's. Why is the decision solely the woman's?

No it’s both of their decision. It’s just as much his child as hers.
They chose to have sex with each other knowing that pregnancy was a possibility. Now instead of killing that child the right thing to do is to be the child’s parents.

None of the advices given on this forum matter. It’s between you, your girlfriend, and maybe God, if you are spiritual. I have a close friend who is pregnant and her ex dumped her and he doesn’t know. If he did, he’d talk her into an abortion so that he could start a family with his new girlfriend. It’s a mess and no one can give you advice except maybe your folks.

The only information that the OP has provided is his age and the fact that he got his girlfriend pregnant. From this, you have concluded that abortion "may be the best for all parties involved"?
He didn't say that they were considering abortion. He didn't say that they are on unsound financial footing. He didn't say anything about his family support network or lack thereof. He didn't indicate that either of them do not want a kid. Yet you jump to the conclusion that abortion should be considered?
