Steve, as you now live in Australia you're no longer entitled to use "we" in reference to GB.

Given our relatively small population and lack of cultural interest in athletics as compared to other sports it is noteworthy.

The best thing is that it will do wonders for clean Kenyan superstars (or should be superstars) like Tim.
The profile of middle-distance running will be raised x 10 over the next decade by guys like Jakob and now the youngsters who are following in his wake. If Tim can stay on top he will be a household name and probably earn millions more than he would if he just beat fellow East Africans who the wider sports fan population could no longer trust to be clean and had no interest in.
Somewhat true. It's looking more and more like literally every TOP African for the past 30 years has been a cheat. Oh well.
Followed Luke Young's career for a longtime - he got a lot of talent and will be one to watch over the next few years - given the right race he should drop a few more seconds of that pb over the rest of the aust season. He's had a great local coach who's is taking and has taken a lot of care with his progression
I heard that SuperTroll discovered Luke Young as an 8 year old!
that would definetely constitute being called the super troll
I heard the superTroll was larger than life!
Cheers, Ben

it isn't remotely obvious why you puppies have to turn everything into a b1tch slapping contest but in this particular instance you happen to not only be dim, but wrong.
in the United States last year exactly one boy under 18-years of age ran under 3:55 for 1500m. Daniel Maton (dob 2 Jan 2001, and therefore 17-years-old) ran 3:50.07. the next fastest was Cole Sprout who ran 3:55.48. I don't have Sprout's dob so I don't know how old he is, just that he is under-18. they are the only 2 under-18's in the US who went under 3:56 last year.
therefore, the US does not have "many kids run faster equivalent times at those ages," and at the moment does not even have one.
Australia, on the other hand, had four.
Luke Young (23 Nov 2001) 3:48.89 Melbourne 8 Mar 2018
Oli Raymond (2001) 3:51.53 Sydney 29 Nov 2018
Luke Shaw (7 Dec 2001) 3:51.73 25 Nov 2018
Angus Beer (2002) 3:53.55 Sydney 29 Nov 2018
and a further 3 more faster than Cole Sprout.
Adam Spencer 3:54.32 (2001) Melbourne 18 Jan 2018
Sam Clifford 3:54.65 (2002) Cairns 08 Dec 2018
Aidan Roberts (2002) Melbourne 20 Dec 2018
facts matter.
cheers.
You copy and paste the word "equivalent" from my post, so I have to assume you saw it. So the only explanation left is that you are making a joke, since surely you realize that more than one American high school kid last year was capable of running faster than a 3:55 1500...

It's great stuff. Youngsters from outside Africa are now starting their careers with real belief that they can one day compete at the top (and clean). It's turning into a truly global sport again.
I predicted this a couple of years ago when I first came to the forum, and I've been prove right as usual.
In GB we have Scotland's Kane Elliott who ran 3:46 as a16 year old last summer and has already ran 3:50 indoors this season. Max Burgin the same age ran 3:47 last summer (and of course a 1:47 age world record for 800m).
It's like you are incapable of writing a sentence without including the word 'Africa' or 'Kenya' in it.
You might have a disease.
Really ex-doper? Any use of the words 'Africa' or 'Kenya' now considered racist? Or at least they are to weirdos like you when used in the context of any success by a non-African athlete, especially young ones?

Yes I 100% agree. Because some 17 year old Australian ran 3:44 (not actually that notable), therefore EVERY African runner from the past 30 years is doping.
Sound logic ?
Nick Foster ran 4:05.5 mile in the U.S. last year as a junior. That converts to 3:47 1500m. There were a host of seniors running faster than 4:07 mile equivalent.
I can't find any others because the lists now at mile split and dyestat (athlinks) require subscriptions.

This is what most people here fail to see. It's a good time, no doubt about it (lol I wish I could have run that at 17, or 18 or ever) but it's nothing spectacular.
I know a 17 year old who ran 3:47 off of 1.5 years of structured training. If the talent is there, and good coaching is available, these times are not that amazing for 17 year-olds.
Nevertheless, good on the boys and now let's hope they continue to focus on their progression.

I am certain I didn't call you or imply that you are racist in that post.
I simply said that you are unable to write a post without talking about Africans or Kenyans. I'd say I'm pretty bang on.
You are obsessed.
An ordinary response to the OP would be something like "great talents, let's see what they can do in the future". For you it's "Africans blah blah".
