He’s been transitioning to training with his dad since at least before 2016 world indoors (his father would give input into workouts). From what I’ve told he had been trying to distance himself from the group for quite a while and Nike told him to stay for a year to keep the group’s reputation as clean as possible. Part of it is logistic, he doesn’t want to live in Portland anymore and barely ran with the new guys anyway.

Centro is a garbage human who craves drama. Loved seeing him get owned today.
He probably decided like many others that NIKE went over the line when they started paying Colin Kapernick to advertise their swoosh. It's a business, but there are some things bigger than shoes.

This is old news. With the Powells moving to UW, it was already announced that Centro was a volunteer assistant on their staff.
Centro was with AlSal at USATF in des moines this summer with the typical steadfast marching past anyone with interest in the sport and their general lack of personality/emotion. Glad to see he has moved on, he deserves better.

The biggest reason he left Portland is he ran out of women impressed by his gold medal. He'll get married at 39 or later. After he becomes an announcer for the BBC/NBC.
Meanwhile, he has some clubs near UW and coeds to work his way through.

I’ve heard from a couple sources surrounding his ending Nike contract. Adidas is up next and he’s looking at one of the biggest new groups—- Tinman Elite. Only time will tell but don’t day I didn’t tell ya so!

Centro's not way past his prime. He was Olympic champ and World Indoor champ just two years ago. He was off to a fantastic start in 2017 before injury. Coming back from injury well into the summer, he still managed to run 3:31 this year. He is healthy now, apparently, and I would not be surprised by 3:30 or even 3:29 finally next year. But he begin distancing himself from NOP even in 2016 when he was getting a lot of coaching from Centro, Sr. and then moving away, so this isn't a surprise.
