Average world class 400m sprinters is about 6'0 tall and 160 ibs. Your height and weight is about the height and weight for world class long distance runners and climbing specialist in cycling.
5'8 120 pounds is about the same proportion as 6'0 and 160.
Thanks for ur encouragement
Ok I get what ur saying but I don’t like distance. I don’t enjoy running miles and I feel like I have no endurance because when I was getting my mileage up last year in xc I didn’t see muchimprovement .

5'8 and 120ibs is a BMI of 18.2
6'0 and 160 ibs is a BMI of 21.7
On a semi-related note, 20x400m w/equal time rest = half marathon goal pace in minutes? For example, if you can run 20x400m in 60 seconds w/60 second recoveries, half-marathon goal pace is 60 minutes. Yasso 400s for the half-marathon? What do you think?
The shot put is your real calling.

Some of you posters want to ridicule the lad or just post nonsense. This is a nonsense post. Yasso? Who give a sh*t what Yasso says about 1/2 Marathon training. OP asked for 400m training advice.

I actually did notice this trend a few years ago training for a half marathon.

Op, what are your best times for 200, 400 and 800 meters?

This is completely unrelated to the topic
26, 60-61 never ran the 8
For 400m, you need speed endurance:
80-100-120-100-80m @ 95-100% effort, 6-8 min rest
100-120-100-80-100-120-100m @ 95-100%, 6-10 min rest
3-6x 120m @ 95-100%, 6-10 min rest
3-5x 150m @ 95-100%, 6-10 min rest
And you need anaerobic capacity:
100-200-100-200-100-200-100-200-100m @ 80-89% effort, 2-3 min rest
1-2 sets of 100-200-300-200-100m @ 80-89% 2-3min rest, 5 min between sets
100-200-300-400-500-400-300-200-100m @ 80-87% 3-6min rest
OP: WORK HARDER.
UR WELCOME
And your 100 PR?
Give us all your PRs for that matter, including jumps.
My guess at this point is to hit the weights, eat more, and do 600m repeats and top-end speedwork, 30-80m, but let's see your PRs and also what your favourite events are.
Well when I broke 60 I trained with distance then started tapering and did speed workouts like ladders or just all out 100m 's. Best bet for you is to do 200m repeats all out maybe 8.
When out of shape for distance, I trained for the 440 for a couple of years, and ran 52.5 or faster 25 times.
My #1 session was 12x100 with 300m slow jogs after each.
The 100s were usually at 400 pace, i.e. 13 to 13.5 seconds, and the jogs took about 2 minutes each.
That was 50 years ago. Scary.
If I was training for the 400 again, that's the workout I would do.

I disagree. That is a very healthy weight for a high school girl. Good luck on breaking 60!
# Grl Pwr!
Most likely a high school 120 pound girl would not try to gain weight.
My team mate weighed 122 pounds, and ran 1:52.5 for 880 yards in high school, on a dirt track, at the 1963 California state meet.
