Wasn't it certified? Had a quick look and many of the strava distances show up as between 21.01 and 21.05 km. It's more usual for strava to show courses as long, 21.2 to 21.5 km for a half marathon. 800 or 80 meters short?

You know that Strava doesn't compute distances. Right? You know it copies data from GPS watches?

Yes, and GPS watches more often than not show courses as longer than they actually are. For example click on the strava link in a runner's profile for their marathon best time and most show a marathon distance of more than 26.2 miles. It's unusual for this half marathon to be showing under 13.1 miles. Just after an answer, was it 800 meters short or 80 metres short from the poster who mentioned it being a short course?

The guy saying it was 800 meters short is a FOS troll. However, you're right that GPS tends to show long (about 1% in my experience). The race is certified, but that doesn't guarantee it's correct on the day. If a record (even an age group record) is broken the course is re-measured and sometimes certified courses are found to be short.
LetsRunner mentality:
"Every time I run a PR the course is accurate"
"Every time I don't run a PR the course is long"
"Every time someone else runs a PR the course is short"

Guy left his race in this EPIC effort. Just like Parker Stinson, he will never be able to recover in time for Chicago in a month.
Look for the top American in Chicago to be Tyler Mclandess who is currently getting DFL at Falmouth. That's the kind of race results we need to see for a big time performance at Chicago. Coaching 101

bump to note that Osako ran 2:05:50 and set a national record

I guess this inspired other Japanese people to try to be really fast

You don't usually expect someone to rock up with at 61:00 half in your back yard!
You do if you live in a major city like London or Tokyo.
Banned after the LetsRun Budapest meetup. Something must've happened there. Like maybe he was hitting on Nijel Laros' mom, who has there.
bump
don't think he's banned. Just stopped posting as jamin.
