Sorry steady state is what you can sustain for 2.5 hours. Hopefully you’re not confused. You probably are.

Great advice. FYI Mcmillam actually talks about doing 60min steady state runs as part of base building. At least as far as I understand it. He had a great article in Runners World but it seems to have disappeared. This sort of of explains it.
I wish I could have articulated it this well to this dickhead. Thanks mate.
Thanks mate. This will be my fifth marathon. My most recent one in 2015 I did in 3.26. As I said, I had a hiatus from running in 2016 and have been running regularly again for about a year.. I run daily and am running currently about 10hrs per week. I’d like to run 3.20 so I’ll see how it goes.

Sounds good. Just continue to be consistent and, as before, utilize the McMillan Calc training paces and you'll definitely see improvement. Perhaps get Greg's book, YOU (only faster), for additional perspective and sample training schedules.
Thanks bud. I’ve got his book. It’s very good. I’ll go back and check out his schedules as I hadn’t looked at those. I also like one called Healthy Intelligent Training by Keith Livingstone which is one that is very Lydiard specific. Thanks again for the encouragement.
