10th grade dude from Royal who could have easily been in 9th grade by his age ran about 9:07 for the 3200 at the Sourthern Section in CA last night.
He isn't close to being old for his age. He just turned 15 recetnly from what i understand which is very normal for freshman, and even on the slightly younger side of freshman average wise.
a full mile is not even close to 1609 meters. it is 1760 yards.

Incredible.

Okay, Yogi.
Did you think disagree with you?
Meters and yards are not the same thing. I'm not saying a mile isn't 1760 yards, but it is 1609 meters (1609.344 to be technical).
Also, about the tayes. I hear they are going to a prep/private school next year. Cushing Academy I believe. Any sayon this?
I concur, although today I heard that there is some hesitation on the part of the older taye because of ties he has in the portland area. I don't know anything about Cushing, but would love to hear from someone who does.
results have young taye at 4:13.57, which converts to a 4:15.02 full mile. still, super impressive.
one word... etheopian
my bad... ethiopian
Yeah... from my understanding, both taye's as well as Cassie Hintz will be going to Cushing next year. A huge blow to Maine running, and actually a stupid choice since it's only Div II prep school and competition will actually be WORSE. And don't give me the better education BS, cause they could just go to a DI prep is all I'm saying.
you arent a mainer if you dont even know the right people that are leaving and i was at the meet and there is no way he split 153 more like 155.
Both Tayes and Elise Moody-Roberts (not Cassie Hintz, although she has left her high school team) will be attending prep schools next year. The Tayes will go to Cushing (although that's not sounding like a sure thing anymore) and Moody-Roberts will be attending some school where she can focus on nordic skiing, which I guess she enjoys more. The Tayes will still be able to get competition at invitationals and open meets, and I seem to remember reading something about their dcision to attend Cushing being made a lot easier because the coach has a masters degree in ESL teaching, or something like that. So that's why they'd choose Cushing over D-I prep schools. Sometimes high school STUDENT-athletes make decisions based on things other than athletics.
Cassie Hintz will burn out. She's too skinny- she probably already is burned out, she probably going to Cushing to get away from her crazy dad.
Oh, I'm sorry... you must be correct... I am not from Maine... what a great assumption. Now if you'll excuse me for relaying the wrong information I am no longer in high school so don't follow it all that closely. I'm a little busy with college courses and training to keep up with every last detail from Maine high school running. As I loved my years running in Maine I try to keep up with it as best I can, but I have other shit I have to take care of... so please excuse me... and don't try to bring kids down a rung just because you could never split 1:53, 1:55 or probably even 2 flat. Eat one.
Wow, don't give us such a bad rap with all of your insecurities. We are all busy man!
Elise Moody-Roberts continues to love running just as much as nordic skiing. Going away for nordic is not the main reason she is leaving her high school(this is for dexysrunner), and she may come back after one year.
Cassie Hintz does need to gain some weight, and stop running so much so she can excel after high school. Getting away from her father may not be a bad idea.

I'm still in shock that that was actually typed.
