Wow, as I read this I realize that something was wrong (with the coaching?) when I was in high school 40 years ago.
I ran sub 24, 50-51 and 2:02 (for 220, 440, 880 on cinders).
I later coached guys who broke 2:00 and couldn't break 24 and 53!
I was told that as a girl I had no speed and needed to focus on the distance events
29 (200 - hand timed - workout - trainers)
61 (400 - hand timed - workout - trainers)
2:18 (800 - hand timed - workout - trainers))
5:04 (1600 - race)
11:33 (3200 - race)
19:00 (5k - race)
Looking back on it my sweet spot was probably at 800m, too bad I never pursued it.

I was a walk-on in college, trained for the 800m. Ran consistently in the 21 second range during practice. In retrospect, maybe the 800 wasn't my best event.

In a legitimate 200 you would have been no faster than 26.5.....at best.

I've never run a 200 TT or race (which I want to do at some point), the fastest 200 I've done was a hand timed 25.0x at the end of a workout.

Interesting that with a few exceptions, most people posting were semi-elite middle distance runners who could at least challenge for a hs state 800 m title not the more typical 17 or 18 minute 5 K weekend warrior. I thought my PR speed was decent but most here are putting me to shame.

200m: 23.0, 23.0, 22.3, 23.0 hand timed in a workout (kept up with a guy who ran 47.9-400m that year and it was my 1st and last time time at this type of workout since I was training for the 800m and didn't do those type of workouts)
600y: 1:14.xx (low 54.xx 440y pace)
800m 1:58.xx indoors in early January. Never improved . Got sick or injured each year and not many races at my school to compete in
Ran some 51.xx 400-m in practice not all out.
I think I should have trained for the 200 and 400m.
