Wait...wait....the OP is sexist because she/he didn't think wearing ripped up cutoffs to an event where she was representing her an employer on a national scale was professional? I understand that most simple minds default to name calling when they are stumped or frustrated in an argument; but at least make the disparagement applicable! This thread is hilarious!

Absolutely incorrect. If you don’t think New Balance cares what an athlete wears for a contractual appearance, you may need to acquaint yourself with the obligations of professional athletes. Wearing sponsor product is the job.
Cutoff jean shorts was a massive whiff. Foot Locker is not a backyard cookout.
Mother of God. New Balance is the new Master? And Nike? A couple of companies built on child, slave labor.[/quote
it's what pays her bills dude
I also had a problem with it. Those shorts could have been a few inches shorter. What was she thinking?! How horrible she is! Just awful!! Or, the OP has way too many things bothering him or her. Get a freakin life!

Shorts are considered business attire in San Diego. I'm a partner in a medium-sized local law firm and I wear a t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops or running shoes to the office frequently. I know a guy who is managing partner of a billion dollar plus PE shop and he dresses the same way.
I work at a SV based company, so I'm familiar with dressing casual, but if I visited a lawyer dressed like that I would walk the F out and take my business to someone dressed appropriately for the situation.
So I agree with the OP on Emma, not the correct outfit for a running related event. Should have gone for the current NB kit with those sweet neon bottoms and rocking the gold medal.
I think she looks great and I can bet every freaking one of the kids she meet and interacted with were stoked as hell to have spent some time with her, and not one f*ck was given about her shorts (except to admire what great legs she has).
She wanted to show off her legs, not her medal. Low class & very selfish
Represented her body and NOT New Balance.

Have to agree. She looks unprofessional. Save the short shorts for your Instagram account.
Yeah, simply a constant attention seeker. The announcer did not even introduce her as a gold medalist!!!!
The look on her face was hilarious. She truly looked shocked and was hesitating to run out.
But yes, she looks good in shorts, but that was not the place to wear those frayed shorts for obvious attention.
What the? Sisson is wearing long sleeves and tights and Coburn is wearing Dukies? It makes no sense.
The right move is probably some NB capris and change before her pick-up sand volleyball game.

Depends on you look on it. Much as these companies exploit child slave labor in other nations, they exploit the talent and marketability of people like Emma...all to make the almighty buck.
The new slavery. They sign the checks so they get to tell you how to dress, how to live, what political opinions you can have. Great that you but into that mindset.
with this type of behavior, Emma belongs at Nike.
Dude, she has one of the best bodies in all of track and field. Short shorts all the way baby!!!:) Emma don't listen to these haters!
A little unprofessional, but I'm not complaining!

They aren't haters, they are realists. Just because someone states their opinion, it doesn't make them a hater. Grow up little fella and welcome to the 21st Century.

This is a high school event. She should learn how to behave.

You know it's pretty obvious you're responsible for about 75% of the posts on this thread.
Assess the direction your life is taking.
I think she is dressed plenty professional for the occasion. She is conveying that she is down to Earth and relatable to your average recreational runner, which makes her way more marketable.
In Boulder and in Cali women don't have to cover up as much. In St Louis and in most places letsrun people post from they do.
Professional dress codes are for wage slaves. Coburn is far, far more valuable to her employer than her employer is to her. When you're one of the few people for whom that is the case, you get to wear what you want, like jean shorts on a hot day. Imagine that!

You can smoke pot in Boulder w/o getting arrested!
