Also, I wouldn't mention Shalane. Regardless of her athleticism or strategy, she still comes across as a trashy betch to some people.

Would you be interested in a guy who put "I follow football and how there's a lot of strategy involved beyond just people running and catching and throwing. I was excited to see the Patriots win the Super Bowel using excellent football tactics."

Most women I know would say "oh god he is the type of guy who will literally spend all day Sunday watching football".

Same thing. Just say that you are a big fan of professional running.

Okay so should I mention anything at all about following pro running? I flew across the country to watch races at Hayward Field so it is important to me.

That's a conversation you can have when you're chatting with a potential date to figure out if you're interested. Why be so specific in your profile? I'd say WTF if I read that in a profile. If you're looking for a hook, that's not it.

When I was on Match, I just said I was into running. I got a lot of hits from women who were runners, and that's usually where our chats started. Even with the women who weren't runners, our conversations eventually got around to fitness and running. Honestly, you increase your odds by casting a wide net with a more generic profile. Most people are going by looks anyway.

In the unlikely case you are a girl you can write anything. If you are good looking you will get dates

I like this. It shows that you're interested in why and how instead of just superfluous results. I'd infer that you're a curious person that could get interested in other subjects on a deeper level than just looking at the final results. The second phrase about Shalane was a bit much though.

I met someone in an online dating site- I said I liked to run.

As we got to know each other I told her I was interested in following running. She thought it was cool that I was so "obsessed" and passionate about something.

We watched some youtube videos of Pre and some modern races- she was into it.
