since when is a "softer, crushed limestone groomed surface" faster than pavement? it's not faster at 25 mph, it's not faster at 15 mph, and it's not faster at 8 mph.

The same is true of Sandy Vi who set the US transcon record a week ago, running an average of 58 miles a day for 54 straight days; a four-hour marathoner who can outlast pretty much every female at really long distances. I wonder if Camille will try to take on trail ultras now? I know Sandy Vi has not tried a trail ultra yet, only road based events. But who knows, maybe trail running is not their type of running.

The WMA calculator gives this a 96% rating, equivalent to 2:22 marathon. Trason's old record is given 88%, equal to a 2:34 marathon. Massive jump.

What? 7:37 per mile is a jogger's pace, any sub-230 marathoners should be able to hold it past 100mi.
Wow, this is beyond impressive!! And I was happy with my 6 mile run at that pace today! Go Camille, she has to be one of if not the fastest posters on this message board.

That is because the mcmillian predictor is based on existing records and performances. Since ultras are so far only run by b level talent or slower (since all the A level talent is busy making money in marathon and below), the mcmillian calculator is going to show that a new record in an event like this is equivalent to far faster than the world record in shorter events.
If ultras start to offer large sums of money, we will start to see men running 100m races with a marathon "equivalent" of times like 1:50 and other ridiculous comparisons.

Can jaguar string together 50 days of back-to-back 60 mile days, to shatter the current record held by Villines? Besides having the right mental make-up, along with the physical talent, support-crewing is a very important factor in order to pull it off. There are safety risks in Transcons, as well.

Camille's record counts as a road record, and not a track record, so it was Ann Trason's record that she broke. Gina's 13:45 still stands as the track 100mi WR.
