Why would "track fans" be excited about a non-track event? It he meant "running fans", then OK. But you seem to infer he meant "track athlete fans", which is a cross-over audience.

Why don't we just have track athletes participate in poker (like Bolt's Poker Stars sponsorship) if they are indeed the main draw? Would this get the so-called track fans excited too?

With this and 5th Avenue on NBC on Sunday track fans have another week to be excited.

The 5th Avenue event doesn't have a Elite Race Walk, so us race-walking fans aren't interested.

That's what I was thinking. When I turned on the broadcast, I was all excited as I heard the voice of my Ivy League broadcast partner - Bill Spaulding. I thought, "Why didn't Merber invite me up? I'd have done it for free to work with Bill."

Then the race walk came on and I thought, "Maybe they were fearful I'd make fun of the race walk."

I'd probably just play it straight. Not gonna lie, that was a good finish but guy that finished 2nd was totally running. I mean if I was that close in a RW, I'd just run the last 5 meters.

The form of race walkers looks so awful. It must be advantageous to sway the body parts like that but it doesn't seem like it would be good for ones joints overall

My god. Did anyone besides me just hear the PA try to use David Torrence's passing to motivate the crowd to cheer on the ladies? Kind of tasteless right?

He said something about it being an emotional night and the rain was God's tears for Torrence and something about using that emotion to help the ladies get across the line.

I concur. It made me a bit uneasy but I didn't hear what he said word for word.
