He ran 3:55 for the mile and beat Robby Andrews and Evan Jager on a self-admitted off day. Not a bad off day.

Unfortunately, you are correct. My days as an athlete are long done. I was in Eugene in the days of Harry Johnson, and it's probably best to leave it at that. However, would it really make a difference if I hadn't spent time on the circuit? Does that make someone's critique any less valid if they don't have personal experience with international track and field? Is the blatant observation of failure any less true if a person doesn't have Andy Norman in their cell contacts?

Actually, I did in a sense. I was just vague enough to avoid fulfilling your intentions of being a super sleuth, however. Angry millennials such as yourself do silly things in anger, instead of seeking inspiration in superheroes like Ben Blankenship. Suffice that my best was enough to elicit an invite to run with AW in the early 80's, and then went to Bill after Harry left. I enjoyed 4 seasons on the circuit, scraping by to have decent meals and sleeping on couches all over the world. Those were the days of "shamateurusm"- quite unlike the amenities enjoyed today by the coddled pros. We raced year round, and when we didn't produce, we starved. Hollister set up some of us with jobs, and that was a big help. Other than that, it was what you could squeeze out of a meet promoter and find stuffed in an envelope in your training shoes. So, if your point was to see if I knew what I was talking about, the answer is an emphatic YES. I'd actually be surprised if George didn't already have me figured out.

Yes, absent factors ragging on OTC/Blankenship is pretty pathetic, all the while ignoring the turd Andrews left on the track in London & Birmingham - if I'm not mistaken Blankenship performed better over the weekend and in the Olympics finishing 8th in the finals (vs. Andrews blowing up at Worlds not even making it to the finals against a considerably inferior field).

Yes, seems young Robby has a difficult time with internationals (dq in Rio/calf injury in London), excluding World Indoor. However, are you aware of the train wreck that the OTC has become? They are satisfied with mediocrity, and justify poor performances. IG posts pretending to be some kind of hero after making a rash and strategically poor move in a race is exactly what I'm satiring with this thread.

The 2017 US champion isn't a scalp? Is it because he won the title way back on June 24th? Guess he got washed up in less than 60 days.

That's my mistake. I should have been more specific. With his calf injury in London, Andrews is not a scalp to brag about in 2017. That opinion is highlighted and further emboldened by his uninspired 4:03 in B'ham.
