Is that a serious question? Utilize your brain. It's called a paid product promotion or sponsorship. It helps to be attractive and have a large following.

I know someone who does this and besides getting paid she gets hundreds of products for free. She basically never has to buy any snacks, shoes, camping gear, outerwear, skis or snowboards.. Even her lift ticket is covered if she takes pictures at a resort...

These aren't facts. These are your opinions.

Correction: The top 1% of attractive females (similar to the top 1% of most fields/athletics) have an easier time profiting off of their profiles on instagram compared to men. This does not, in any way, mean women have an easier time at finding jobs or receiving equal pay across all fields.

Correction: SOME of these fitness models or blogger types fall into this category. Some are very into fitness and have strategized to make this their top source of income and depend on it.

Correction: This depends on what you consider good money. Some posts can earn you $10,000. For that one post. I have a friend who earned $5k off of one post and he 'only' had about 50,000 followers.

I also have many friends who are fitness bloggers amongst other types of bloggers (i.e. fashion, lifestyle, alcohol brands, food) and social media has become their primary (sometimes only) source of income.

One of my buddies is a local apartment manager and he tells me that many of his female renters got approved with their verified income as an "entertainer." Yea, $2,000-$3,000 apartments downtown occupied by cam girls.

I simply referred to it as being "easier to build a profile". Fine tune your comprehension skills before going on a tangent about profiting or equal pay in the general workforce.

Nope. Most. They are either supported by a spouse/family, or come from previous wealth of their own making or from family. It's just facts, there's no need to be offended.

The economics of these instagram models is pretty interesting. People's jaws drop when they hear what kind of cash advertisers will pay to get their product in a picture with a popular instagram model. But the advertisers are actually getting a bargain. $5,000.00 for a picture on instagram is a bargain compared to print and TV ads. Also, the instagram ad is going directly to people who share an interest (fitness, parenting, etc.), where TV ads may or may not reach people with the shared interest (people watching Game of Thrones may or may not play video games, for example). And, when instagram models provide links, advertisers can see in real time whether the instagram post translates into sales.

And this thread is useless without pics.

Had a sub lease female roommate last year in undergrad. We all found out after she was gone that she was a cam girl and pulling in bank.

Heard similar to posts above. Fitness models/standard IG models are pulling in thousands per sponsored content post, based upon how many followers they have.

Some chick went viral on twitter because some guy looked at her pumping gas. Yet her profile has low draping cleavege. These women want attention, some get paid for it. Which is crazy to me.

Call BS all you want, but it's the truth. Here are a few. These women have thousands (some even millions) of followers. Some are for fitness, some are for hair, others for make-up, etc. These women likely get minimum a couple thousand for each sponsored post.

There are fitness men who profit off of this too, namely bodybuilders who appeal to straight men looking to get fit but also a lot of guys for fashion/shoes, gear, etc. Fishing is apparently really big too, lots of sponsorships.

If you're a woman, you'd be stupid to work (a real job) a day in your life. Probably 99.99% of women have used their sex appeal to get what they wanted. If they can't do that because they're too unattractive, they'll just become a lesbian.

This is stupid.

99% of women don't look like an airbrushed super model on the cover of a magazine. 99% of women are ordinary. Sex appeal realistically lasts about 15 years of a woman's 84 year life. That alone won't keep them alive.

I also work in the advertising industry (big 4). Here's my $0.02 on the issue:

1.) It is indeed a very small percentage of Instagram "Models" that get paid real money. For them it's a full-time gig, they travel a ton, and each photo they post can take hours to shoot and edit.

2.) Most work with influencer agencies who help them grow their account, make contacts with brands, photographers, etc. and then take a % of whatever they make- which is essentially modeling. Thus, we almost never deal with an influencer directly.

2.) A post with 5,000 likes and few comments isn't worth anything to a client who is willing to pay real money.

3.) As an influencer, you have to PROVE that your audience is engaged, that means one of the most important metrics isn't your total number of followers, but rather your engagement rate. If you have a million followers, but your post is only liked/commented on by 2,000 people, you either bought all of your followers or you're no longer relevant.

4.) 100,000 followers used to be a lot, but that's not worth much anymore. If advertisers want a low CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) rather than pay an influencer $5,000, they can just as easily boost a post for $1,000 to a substantial audience and they'll get a ton of impressions.

How many times have you ran into women on Facebook who are obviously men using women's pictures. Why would it be any different on Instagram?

Someone said that these sites wind up connecting to nude sites. I believe that and guess who is taking most of those pictures? Men or women?

I am not saying that some women do not make money on those sites, I just tend to think that not many do. Perhaps some make 40K per year for about five years. Then they take care of their babies through our welfare programs.
