Ask ISIS, they've come up with some pretty creative ways to kill ppl:

drowning them in cages

crucifying them then stabbing them thru the heart with a knife

tying them to a tree then shooting them with an RPG

strapping a back pack to them with a bomb in it and making them run for a few minutes till it blows them apart

running over them with a tank

strap a bomb around their neck then blow them up

endless beheadings

etc

I think the Persian Empire had a pretty horrible one. They would trap you in an enclosed space, then feed you and cover you with milk and honey to attract hordes of insects.

Someone has already spent a bit too much time thinking about this!

I have read that drowning, panic notwithstanding, is supposed to be a relatively peaceful way to die... how anyone could claim to know that beats the hell out of me.

As a matter of fact, all of those except for the crucifying and maybe the tank would be pretty quick, at least?

I once worked in a small town where a guy from a nearby village, staggering home drunk late at night, was set upon by hyenas which literally tore him shreds biting and making off with huge chunks of his body. He was rescued quickly enough because dogs raised the alarm bringing a large crowd of people to the scene, scaring off the hyenas. But the person that was medevaced to a hospital in the city had parts of his face, torso, and limbs missing. He survived an extra day in hospital on machines before dying under what must have been excruciating pain.

Anything but being eaten for me.

I forgot to add that the victim's tribe initially tried to pass off the attack as a lion, allegedly to preserve his honour since, according to them, dying by hyena is considered dishonourable as opposed to getting killed by a lion. But lions, unlike hyenas, don't eat their prey alive and the haphazard nature and viciousness of the wounds, with parts of him missing, is something even a child would identify as consistent with hyenas. So his tribesmen, thinking they were doing his family a favour, came up with a lie which no one, not medical staff or media, was buying. It took an almost darkly comic turn when his family and media took opposing views blaming one animal over the other.

Gruesome way to die. No way to get yourself off the post. Freaks me out.

I believe Deadliest Warriors is correct. Also, the person you are thinking of is Vlad the Impaler. AKA Vlad Dracula.

Don't know if you would consider this burned alive but a guy near me was set on fire, got the flames out after maybe 6 seconds. Was either in and out of the hospital or always in for around a year for burn marks, ended up dying.

Also consider drowning, starvation, suffocation, and being skinned alive

Oops. It originally was only "burned" or "buried"... then I remembered "eaten" and forgot to change the comparative to a superlative.

My mom would be so disappointed.
