The cyclist was obviously making no effort to ride towards the right side of the road. He seemed to be riding down the middle of the road as if he were flipping everyone off.

The driver didn't hit him directly. He moved over and bumped him with the side of his front fender. It was almost as if he meant to cut him off and scare him, but misjudged the distance.

I have little sympathy for the clown on the bike. Sorry, I know that's not the PC response.

Be realistic...common sense and common courtesy is all that's required. I guess there are a lot of inconsiderate and arrogant cyclist out there. Be careful there may be a 'psychopath in the weeds' ready to get you.

I don't think bicyclists or runners should use roads that are well traveled by cars, but the driver of the car was clearly at fault and the bicyclist shares none of the blame.

When the dude doesn't stop, then that's a red flag that he did it on purpose. He should serve jail time.

Let's clear a few things up.

1. Not all cyclists are libs. Far from it actually.

2. It's not always safe to ride all the way to the right, but it is always mandatory to give adequate room when passing.

3. Someone else using the road incorrectly doesn't give you the right to crash them. Do you people intentionally wreck all the people driving slowly in the passing lane?

video isn't remotely a surprise as i've had cars buzz me like this for no reason... to send a message or something. and i don't ride anywhere that i'd slow down traffic.

the "share the road" law is also to blame here - it's a ridiculous concept. as ridiculous as any pedestrian sharing the road with a 4000 lb SUV. that's why we have sidewalks. and why separated, off-road bike lanes exist anywhere where cycling is taken seriously as a means of transportation. bikes and cars don't mix well....nor bikes and walkers. i dont think it's all that complicated.

it took getting clipped to make me realize that these other cars have no interest in "sharing" the road. i fear for the beginners who don't know this and will simply follow the foolish rule of law.

at 1:16 of the video the reporter mentions that the same driver has been witnessed doing the same thing in the past. Fry him!

That doesn't excuse the car from hitting him, unless the cyclist moved to the left in front of him, which is not shown in the video photo.

I certainly understand how frustrating it can be when some moron blocks the entire roadway, keeping in mind there are double yellow lines in the middle. Did he expect to keep blocking the cars for miles and miles? That is road rage by the cyclist. Too bad the car didn't have a dash cam.

Cyclists shouldn't use the road for the same reason I don't swim in the ocean.

Whenever I come across a car driving only 20 mph on the roadway, I just smash into it to prove a point.

What part of intentionally hitting someone with your car and driving on is common courtesy? The cyclist was at most causing an inconvenience which would cost the driver a few seconds of time. For that inconvenience the driver was willing to seriously injure or kill someone? So if you or someone you love inconveniences someone (wrongly or rightly), a person can then seriously harm them or kill them and you will blame your loved one for the other persons gross overreaction? It's like these trolls think that we have to establish that the cyclist was 100% not causing even the tiniest remotest inconvenience to the driver. Uh, no. Like, even if he was causing a small inconvenience, that does not authorize the driver to maliciously murder him.

Did you loser trolls ever take a philosophy class in college? Ever read a book? Ever gone to church? Ever, like, thought for a minute about being a decent human being and stuff? I'll give you the short version. A very, very low bar for ethics/Christianity/decency/whatever-you-want-to-call it would be to embrace the general principal of "We should not attempt to murder people if they cause us a moment of inconvenience or are associated with a group other members of which have caused us momentary irritation in the past."

I don't see why the cyclist should have any right to be on the road, as they are maintained by gas taxes that he's not paying.

Driver is a douche but cyclist had it coming. He was lolligagging at 15 mph in the middle of the road. In order to pass, cars would have to go into oncoming traffic. The driver deserves some jail time but the cyclist should take a mandatory bike safety class at an elementary school or something.

You obviously didn't understand old guy's points are, which are:

1) he shouldn't have been hit by the car - the driver of the car is an idiot

2) the cyclists actions led to his own undoing, by being a complete douche taking up a whole lane when it clearly wasn't necessary (i.e. common sense)

Maybe you watched a different film. I didn't see any "malicious murder" going on.

The driver lightly nudged the slow-moving blocking vehicle (that was creating a dangerous hazard) out of the way, and then continued on. I'd do the same if it were a slow-moving car. And the previously quoted Tennessee law says that bikes are to be treated the same as cars.
