Brandon Miller is the real deal. My son has run against him in AAU meets over the years. Great attitude and far from over-trained. He has yet to be pushed in a race. Hope he runs at New Balance this year so we can finally see what he is capable of in a competitive field.

Went out 52.8 last year, ended up running 1:53

Interesting to note that the two kids that have been referenced here (Michael Granville and Obea Moore) both set their career PR's in high school. In Obea's case, his 400m PR is still from his sophmore year, when he ran 45.14 in winning the World Jr's, I believe.
yes but he should have gotten better but had some hammy injuries, and then in JUCO he would crush workouts go to a meet and false start, to insecure to live up to the hype. sad really, there was a story on him a few years back, he had some pretty serious range 100m to mile i think
i think he was a 10.4? 20.7, 45.15, and 1:49, and i think he ran a mile once in 4:16 or something, not bad for a high school sprinter.

Since most people are done with competitive sports at 18, it's pretty important to hit puberty early or on time. By senior year of HS a late bloomer might have the same testosterone flowing through his veins as the early guys, but there's a lot less time for him to train under those more ideal conditions.
The kid is fast. Put him in some open races and let the pony run with the horses. He might end up in the Olympics like a couple other teens in 2012 one of which tied Coe's former world record to finish second in 1:41+

I doubt it...H.S. distance runners aren’t doping. There seems to be a lot of H.S coaches posting on this site and they never mention anything about kids they suspect of doping...unless they're reluctant to talk about it. College is a different story & pros would be a no brainer.
Your information isn't very compelling: "Lots of high school kids take steroids?" Which ones? None athletes? Football players? What's the percentage specifically with distance runners?

To all of you who say Brandon is "developed," looks like he's 18 or say he is "very muscular."
I raced him Thursday at the Festival of Miles in the 800. The kid is like 5'5," 120 max. He looks tiny, like a below average 7th grader. His face looks older in the pictures but when you see him in person you realize he looks very young. He is a very petite person. He looks muscular in the pictures but when you see him in person his arms and legs just look skinny and toned. You just realize how small he actually is.
The race went out slow, he took the lead 300 in and just waltzed away from the field.
Stop hating, I get that being developed and peaking in high school happens but if this kid manages to grow a few inches and put on some muscle in the next few years he will continue to be a monster.
Have any of you ever seen a decent middle school football and/or wrestling team, especially one that wasn't primarily white? You'll see 10 other kids that look just like him in terms of physical development. Miller's definitely an impressive physical specimen, but not really uncommon at all. It's what you look like when you lift and exercise a lot at a young age, and hit puberty early.
Having seen Miller race during the year he has always looked unnaturally small for someone running as fast as he does. I'm not sure where people are getting the overdeveloped stuff.
