It's probably all those charity scam runners needing to get the current medal to "prove" they did the race. Anyone that buys a finisher medal should be put on a terrorist watch list.

I think selling a finisher medal is super lame and buying one is just weird. I can't imagine why someone would want one unless they wanted to lie about running a race they never ran, or the odd case of someone who lost theirs. I wouldn't equate someone whom lies about and cheats at marathons to a terrorist, but there is for sure something very wrong with them.

There might be a few collectors out there who just want one from every year. I don't know why this year's would go for way more $$$ than last year's in that case though.
