There's a good reason Mo doesn't chase world records. Once you break the records of dopers, you put the nail in the coffin.

No one smart is chasing 3:26. Too many suspicions will arise. Work your way up to a good 3:27 and call it good enough.

No. When someone starts talking about challenging and breaking the WR this early you know they are full of it and most likely NOT on PEDs and will not challenge the WR. The PED users keep quiet and all of a sudden out of nowhere run amazing times and win world class championships. And everyone is shocked.

For instance, if Kiprop broke the WR this year nobody would care because he's the GOAT and been close before. If he broke the WR 8-9 years ago everyone would say he's doped to the gills.

Not to be a nitpicker; but London was also a disaster for him, hamstring or not.

London was a poor race for Kiprop as well and Silas Kiplagat ran 3:27.64 a few years back. But Kiprop won gold in Beijing in 2008, won world's two or three times, and didn't have it in Rio. If there's anyone who disappoints in championships, compared to the circuit, it is Kiplagat (Powell in the sprints).

I'd say that if any Kenyan besides Kiprop could come close to the WR it'd be Ronald Kwemoi. Talk about finishing fast too, he absolutely destroyed everyone (including Manangoi) in Monaco last year by over a second in the last 100m and ran 3:28 3 years ago. He's still 21 too. He also has really good range given his 27:33 10k a few months ago (and 13:16 5k PR).

Neither Manangoi or Kwemoi are remotely good enough to break a world record. Asbel has come reasonably close but I've got a feeling he won't come that close again. Rudisha breaks the 800 record and it's easy for people to think others (Cheruiyot, Kipketer etc) might be able to also. But in the same way that kicking through for a strong win in 1:43 and even 1:42 (notice not many of them and not often have WON races in 1:42.5 is not remotely close to breaking 1:41) same too running 3:29 or possibly 3:28 (even in Monaco!) is not remotely close to breaking 3:26.00. Just the way it is; they're good runners but certainly not all-time great runners.

This is really interesting discussion after the fact that their Primadonna failed on EPO.

Of course that any of them can break the world record, any world record, the only problem for them is not to be caught on PEDs, and all of them are on it. EVERYONE. All your heroes are dirty.

The corruption is obvious. And that corruption is what allows the Africans to cheat with seeming impunity, officials usually coming up with ridiculous stories and situations to cover for them when they're caught.
