Geez, how often do all of you fly? We are talking rough estimates here. I fly 4 times per year. That's 8 flights including spouse. I usually pay about $300 per person per flight. That $2400. Add in the 2 free flights and I have now paid, on the average, $240 per flight.
$480 comes a lot closer than $0.

So when the OP added up his total costs, divided them by the number of miles to be run and then reported the result on a per mile basis, that was not taking an average. Got it.

If you haven't included the marginal cost of the food you consumed to fuel your training, then your cost per mile is worthless.
You don't divide by quantities of different variables to get an average. You get a cost per mile (in this case) when doing that, not an average cost per mile. To get an average cost per mile you can add up all the responses here, divide by the number of responses and get an average. Which is not what the OP asked for.
