I dig the cat. He has unique qualities that are kind of hard to put a finger on. Authentic, and authentically humble. A bit of a nerd. Maybe more than a bit. Top level runner. Ivy League grad. Knows good food and good beer.
He seems like a nice dude to me, I said hi to him at chuckanut yesterday and he was totally cool. I even saw him chatting away with some people who had just finished in like 7 hours. Mind you thats 3 and a half hours after he was done.
Plus like others have said he produces free content on youtube, and last time I checked there werent too many "pro's" doing that? His videos are informative and to the point when they need to be. Dont like his rambling videos on foot strike, PED's, VO2, and lactate threshold? Dont watch em.
Yeah I watched some of his videos they are really good, honestly if I was coaching people I would refer them to some of his videos to make my job easier.
As for people who say its too much self promotion.... as a sponsored athlete that's his job.
this again. and once again he is a sponsored athlete.... if he didn't self promote he wouldn't be as good an investment for his sponsors. so he is just doing his job and offering good advice at the same time.
I don't get the self promotion criticism. He's trying to eek out a living running trails. He's repping sponsors and putting out free content. WTF is the matter with that? Plus, he's a humble guy.
Sage advice to have a can a day of beer! I 've have had a few tonight.
