i didn't explain it properly
not easy to put it in math terms
a symmetrical race means no unbalanced race
200m is not symmetrical with a 116m bend & 84m straight
the 1 bend which is very long but slower speed is unbalanced by the 1 short straight which is lot quicker
it is ugly
400m is with 2 of each, which offers
"balance"
you need equilibrium with nominal symmetry of distance run as guy running 400/800/1600 does but doesn't in 200
perhaps easier to state:
they have to start/finish at same mark to make 0 vector movement overall !!!
