Gwen competing in the marathon is like Michael Jordan or Tim Tebow trying baseball.
Only, Gwen was SUCCESSFUL, not only hanging with the elite marathoners, but beating a lot of them. And doing this after winning a high level triathlon a week ago is a testament to her superior skills.
She will go back to high level multisport training within a week or two while the "elite" runners will try and figure out how to eat more EPO and not get caught next year.

It's clear that her time was affected by the lack of specific preparation. She's as fast as maybe 2:27-2:29.
As a side note, if I was a "professional" runner and I got beat by Gwen... I'd re-evaluate WTF I'm doing with my life.

Throw in all the other "real runners" and Gwen would still come out in the top 1% of all finishers......and probably in the top 10% of the men's field, too. lol

Yup......Michael tried to play baseball in 1993. Played in the minors for a bit. Didn't achieve the success level he rose to on the BB court, though. lol.

I think you are off by about 10 mins. She is running like 6:10s today. Getting down to 5:30s is a huge drop. And no just upping the mileage to a 100 and dropping swiming/biking isn't going to make it all happen.
Seriously look at how few woman run sub 2:25. She has never shown that level of talent in running.

She did as well as me and I'm a mediocre dude, who ran 55 average, 75 top 1 week, worked full time, ate a bunch of junk food and drank beer. This is despite her receiving vip treatment and not having to zig zag the charity runners for 2 miles.

This thread isn't about Ritz. It's about Gwen......now a multisport superstar.
I think it was the perfect performance: good enough to show she can hang with the pros, but poor enough to make her hungry and want to give it a 100% clear shot next time. If she had gotten top ten overall she could walk away with a smile forever. I think that this will trigger her competitive juices.

No reason for her to. Risk reward calculation favors her not and rather staying with triathlon or similar events. She gets way more money that way to my understanding, unless someone else has better financial information.
i've run 2:33 on 48 miles per week avg for 7 weeks. weeks before that was 40 mpwget over the "mileage = success" path and you'll be a better runner
