dry and high elevation? Sounds just like her home country. I love it when I see kids choose the smaller name programs over the big names. It tells me that they put a lot of thought into being more then just a part of "the program."
From all of the interviews I have seen of this young lady it seems like she is level headed and humble. She is definitely not your average national caliber runner. She seems like so much more. Congrats Lobos. I think you are getting a gem.
ask yourself whether medium and high altitude programs simply attract better coaches and hardier athletes or maybe, just maybe the altitude and mountains have something to do with their maximizing the talent of their recruits.
That being said, it's obvious that Wetmore and Franklin (along with his assistant, who was doing an outstanding job with all of the distance runners when I was sharing their track a few years ago) are fine coaches who know how to work with distance runners.

OK, one question about the young lady. I never have known how to pronounce her name.
It could be could be Way-Nee.
It could be Wye-Nye.
But can somebody please....PLEASE tell me that it's pronounced....you know, the way I want it to be - the only pronunciation that I would find funny.
