In every High School race I have been to that has used chip timing you are given a stack of chips and a separate stack of bibs. Then there is a print out in the packet and the coach must match the athlete name to the number, pass out the matching bib and chip. At any of the three points (passing out Bib, passing out chip, matching athlete to the correct number) a human error could occur.
This is how it has been at every HS race I have been to that used chips.
I know athletes did not return chips today. But was that not a valid question as to the mix up?
But more importantly why are you so angry? Why the hostility?
Common...Sense wrote:Common sense--something you lack--is that BOTH the bib and chip go together. They are not handed out separately. Have you ever run a race with a bib and a chip? I think not.
Agreed he was hostile but as a current hs runner (in arizona) the bib and chip have always gone together
