Callum Hawkins improvement compared to last year is astounding!!

The re-directing of the course was not equivilamt to lasts years course distance, simply put. It is obviously shorter in many areas and was not accurately measured for this years race. Hawkins is very talented and is an amazing runner but he simply did not run a full half mamathon and was somewhere in the vicinity of 101:40 which would be predictable for him based on his very impressive performances as of late. The course needs to be independently remeasured once again to accurately asertain the exact distance thereby determining a more valid personal improvement curve.

yes the brits are doping but with what ..........

someone gave example of " high altitude stimulator " but

have many brits have been training in altitude for years now

and seen very little to show for it , bar mo farah .

so only conslusion is starting to finally dope like farah and rupp

might never be able to dope at that level though especially

from the aerobic side of things ,using specialised untestable epo's etc.

but finally catching up . if not large aerobic difference ,what is difference

nervous system and certain pepide all over track but not allowed mention .

for the lack of serious interest in track surprised see any elite scots

well why now only one conclusion must be good dope

for training and competing and this dope is the best so far .

Don't see where you are getting that it as shorter in many areas as there where only two points in the course that were different from last years. There first point on the course that was different was at pollack park which was actually longer than the pollok park part in last years course. The second part that was different was at festival park. This part was shorter than last year which is why they went longer at pollok park.

I also don't understand where you are getting 61:40 from as most peolpe saying it was short are saying that it was short by roughly 0.1 miles which is 160-200m short which comes out to a time difference of 30-40sec. if this is correct then Hawkins time would come out at 60:54-61:04.

He finished 26th at NCAA XC in 2011 (the year with Lalang, Derrick, Levins, Korir etc) after winning Great Lakes Regionals a week earlier so the potential was there! He also ran 8.13 for 3k as a 17 year old (still in High School) and won the European Youth Olympics 3000m in 2009.

His pb for the 5k is 14.03 for the 5k which he ran in Seattle in early 2012. Raced sparingly on the track since then as a result of TWO operations on his knee for a torn meniscus in 2012. Only run 3 10k's on the track (his pb set 10months after being given the all clear to start running again) and hasn't raced a track 10k since August 2014! The 14.06 you speak about was in Belgium and he was in the group going at 13.45 pace before the eventual race winner tripped him (and one other) with 5 laps to go.

I would love to think it's purely a result of 200 mile weeks and Steve Jones-esque grit. Sadly, I think he's probably on something.

The course was accredited to be a half marathon by people who know what they are talking about. Being different to last year doesn't make it shorter.

It's not like the course measurers ever get it wrong...

anyone have any idea what hawkins training is like? sessions,mileage etc?

Derek and Callum are both Lydiard coaches and follow Lydiard training methods. As far as I know they have very little to do with the UKA set up, they don't go on UKA camps. They tend to stay and train in Scoyland under the guidance of their dad. I'd be amazed if they were doing anything remotely dodgy.

UKA on the other hand are very keen on the medical approach and the use of thyroid and asthma meds amongst others are very prevelant.

Just to be clear, you will always believe the course to be short unless it is announced by some other party which you personally trust more so than the accreditors to not be short? Despite Kisorio running around what he has shown he can do?

If the course has been independently verified afterwards they are unlikely to announce it, because only a few posters on this one site suspect the course of being short. As it stands, the course has been deemed to not be short and there is no need to reaffirm that it isn't short. This is like the Monaco track 'scandal' on this site all over again.
