why is the harmony a 1/2 size smaller then other shoes? why not just change the sizes? shouldn't a 10 in one of your shoes be a 10 in another? there's only 3 styles, why don't they match in sizes? seems to be confusing, is there a reason for this?

What do these shoes weigh. I can find everything I want about the models except the weights. Is it somewhere on the website that I'm missing?
Size Difference-There can be a number of reasons. Ours is a combination of the shape of the last(footform), the upper construction(one piece of mesh wraps entirely around your foot) and a contracted factory thousands of miles away. The Harmony and Proportion are on the same semi-curved last which allows us to fit the upper snugly into the arch. This is a difficult area to stitch consistently when a factory is trying to move a fast as possible. A stitcher may take 1/4" on a seam that was only allowed for 1/8". Our initial samples are made here in our own shop and further development samples are made in the factory sample room. In both cases workers are taking their time to get things perfect. We can't just change the sizes because I don't know the size differences until the production shoes are delivered. The first thing I do is try on several pairs of all styles so that I can inform customers on how to order.
Abverage_Joe-Here are the weights of each model in a size 9 as measured right out of the box. Keep in mind that due to the manufacturing process, weight can vary as much as 1/2 ounce; longer shoelace, more cement, small amount of rubber when pressing the outsole all add up.
Harmony-11 5/8 oz, Proportion II-11 5/8 oz, Symmetry II-11 7/8 oz, Proportion Classic-12 1/2 oz, Symmetry Classic-13 1/4 oz.
I hope this answers questions.

Thanks. They're all a little heavy for me but if you ever make a racing flat, I'd be interested.
My Symmetrys came in yesterday as promised. My first thought when I put them on was that they feel like slippers. Nice and clean. No big hunks of anything stuck on them. Not sloppy and flopping around or anything. Just secure and comfortable. Went out and did a smooth 8 miles. Bluepoint really described it well. After you stop trying to figure out how it feels, you forget you have them on.
Nice going Vitruvian. If I can get at least 300 miles out of these, I'm coming back for more.
I just got my Vitruvians today. Having run for over
35 years and running in more shoes than I can count, I
was skeptical. They fit well and are a good ride. The
price is right and shipping is free! Check out their
website!
Is your company going to have a booth at the Boston marathon expo?
I need a stability trainer and wear an orthotic. Generally, I like a stiffer forefoot not too flexible. What do you recommend?
Thanks
A 3/4" piece of plywood.
friend- both our Symmetry models (Classic & II) have plenty of room for orthotics. However, we feel our forefoot is more flexible so as not to interfere with one's toe-off.
cfilrun- We're still deciding about the Boston Expo. I know it's close to the last minute, but we're still considering. If we do, we'll post our booth location on our website.
Funny- 3/4" plywood is too much weight. Go with 5/16" and make sure it's exterior grade.
Maybe you can challenge Birkenstock by coming up with some sandals with plywood in the arch for the true maso's amongst us?
On second thought...
Have you tried the Loco Bandito?
bump
the price on the older vitruvians is only $30 with free shipping
kick a*s!!!
Impressive. $30 and free shipping for a simple, basic no-frills running shoe. Don't let NIKE or ASICS find out.
Any new VITRUVIAN models out now?
I just ordered one of the older proportions for 30 bucks including shipping. With that good of a deal i feel like they are worth taking a chance on.
They are. I just got some today. See my post elsewhere. These guys make a decent shoe for a kickass price. The free shipping put a bow on it for me.
If you like your shoes and they are 1/3 the cost of what everyone else wears, let 'em laugh.
