do any of you people know that keith franke was raised in buffalo? franke gained greater fame under a different name, he was the undisputed champ in 1983, tremendous athlete then he gained 200-300 pounds and became like a circus act. question what name did keith franke use when he became a star.

Hooray old stinky threads!
Cleveland hasn't had very much luck either. They've had both "the drive (Elway)" and "the shot (Jordan)," and that last inning of the 1997 World Series wasn't too good either. I actually believe ESPN Page 2 awarded the city of Cleveland the title of being the city with the greatest sporting turmoil, with 6 or so categories ranging from historic dispair to recent heart breakers.

you won't be bitching about the weather this summer when you can actually run at any time of the day and sleep at night with the windows open and no a.c
sigh...
are you out of your mind? where are you getting your information from? i have lived in hamburg all of my life and went to college in potsdam, and i cannot fathom a summer where this has held true. i'll admit that i am biased towards cooler temperatures and the snow, but tell me how you can run "at any time of day" here in the summer? last time i checked, as soon as you walk out the door you're blasted with furnace like temperatures and 95% humidity. find me someone who likes to train in those conditions, and have him talk to anyone who's run a road race around here between june and august. it's miserable, and i'm getting frustrated just thinking about it.
I lived in the "North Country" for a few years and enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought the summer weather and atmosphere very pleasant, with lots of things to do along the St. Lawrence River and up in the Adirondacks. You get some hot, humid days, but nothing compared to the East Coast or Midwest.
Winters could be long and tough--that "lake effect" snow around Watertown has to be seen to be believed. XC skiing substituted for running many days.

You have not even mentioned the suffocating tax burden of those in Erie County (and the rest of New York State, for that matter.) Buffalo is cursed with WAY more than unfortunate sporting moments.
I'm working on my company to transfer me to another state...or I'm leaving the company and finding another job in a different state. In either way, I'm done with New York and I'm never coming back.
Taxes, taxes, taxes. What do you expect, this is the People's Republic of New York (with the exception of Saratoga County).
