Why is Russia banned and not Kenya?!? This is a disgrace to the sport. Renato Canova is an absolute fraud BTW

Good question.
Both have significant doping problems, active cover-up and bribes by national officials, and even though there is talk of progress to combat doping, little has been made.

I think that's not wholly unfair. But are they really worse than the US? AK blew it in terms of the letter of the law, but we the US are blowing it in the spirit of the law with our long line of doped up sprinters, who seem to be protected by our own federation.

Arrests are good wrote:Good point. No details in the doc but good news that the doctors have been doped and hopefully the British athlete has been reported to the correct people.
The 'Coach' of the Olympic Gold Medalist part was worthless without his ID. He could have been absolutely anything and he gave no concrete information only speculation.
The bits with Freddy (I know him - basically anyone white who has been to Iten knows him!) were worthless in real terms - it just showed that you can buy EPO in Eldoret which is nothing new or even a big deal. They used Freddy to buy that stuff because he hangs out with all the Brits in Iten (and by hangs out I mean won't leave alone - he's a pain in the arse constantly begging for shoes/T Shirts.
I doubt Freddy knew the doctor - he doesn't know anyone, and he's not a professional pacer he's a professional annoyance who tags along for every run he can in the hope he might get a free lunch out of it!
Far more likely that Seppelt found the doctor then staged the introduction from Freddy.
Why Freddy? Because he is 'associated' to so many foreign runners (and will do anything for a few shillings)
Very devious but rather clever journalism.
I have a hard time believing that Seppelts motives are to clean up the sport rather than to make a name for himself but if this leads to some of the dodgy doctors being arrested then that is a fantastic step forward!
The Freddie parts do seem more cinematic/story-telling than actual journalism. Like I said above, Sunday Times have already been caught trolling, literally, for an undercover-reporter-exposes-doping story. Sounds like this dude was exactly what they wanted. It does establish to viewers that drugs are easy to get, even if that bit is not connected to actual runners/coaches.agents.
Seppelt does seem to have an axe to grind, but, well, so does anyone taking a stand on anti-doping. I understand complaints that he could just as easily find juicy stories investigating German football clubs, coaches and doctors, or go back in history to East-German doping. His focus on Kenya and Russia does seem to imply a "these countries and only these countries" when it comes to doping.
But I do think his interest is genuine, and I think he does his work with integrity. That he set up an anonymous tip line is something new. Critics could say it is a hotline for new leads for his own gain, but this is the first 3rd party tip line to really emerge, at all. He has tried to work with authorities, and follow actual protocol, but those authorities have rejected his evidence (WADA and IAAF, due to their own self-interests). That he was not given a proper forum with those authorities forced him to come out with these documentaries that are criticized as tabloidism. And this documentary, with the consultation with the Kenyan government and the subsequent arrests, shows that his interest is in effective anti-doping, and that it relies on the cooperation of those in positions of power.
That seems a fair summary.
The bit with the coach was also pretty baseless though - he could have been anyone at all.

One federation organized doping as part of a government program. The other federation failed to control doping. Two different actions, with different interentions necessary to correct them. Kenya has followed WADA's guidlines to stay eligible, Russia has not.
And before some says "but what about..." yes, other countries also fail to control doping, but not as a symptom of egregious errors or poor management, like Kenya: corruption, lack of testing, lack of NADO, lack of credentialed WADA lab, breadth of doping positives. US for example has lots of doping (and you know I beleive that firmly) but that doping is not emerging out of fundamental failures in anti-doping protocol, like the case with Kenya.

This is also all true - good posts this evening from Clerk.
Its a hard one with the Kenyan government as they are corrupt as hell anyway and spend their money on all manor of nonsense. So even if they were not corrupt and spent their funds wisely then would wise spending be to spend it on anti doping labs instead of clean water for example (not that they will do either!)
WADA just need to do it themselves and get it sorted. Plenty of well equipped hospitals in Eldoret - rent some space in one and conduct the analysis of doping tests for there. Pay for some full testers for Kenya only. A small expenditure to sort the problem out.
The problem of testing that is not of using - maybe one solves the other, or maybe one shows that the other was never a big problem, or maybe one shows that the other was a big problem and you start catching the cheats! Until the testing is up to scratch we will never know but you can hardly rely on an African government to get it sorted!
BBC version of the story:
Love this UKAD quote. Priceless.
"ultimately it is an athlete's responsibility to protect themselves from doping"
A notable quote from the video
"the athletes who come from nowhere are all doped"
No surprise here..

Your link is from the NETHERLANDS.
That is just a coincidence.
Is it just a coincidence Jos Hermens of GSC?
Is it just a coincidence Gerard Van De Veen of Volare Sports?
Is it just a coincidence Gabriele Rosa?
Is it just a coincidence Frederico Rosa?
Is it just a coincidence Claudio Berardelli?
Is it just a coincidence Dr. Jeffrey Brown? (Dr.Jeffrey Brown has a hearing on Monday July 11, 2016 about a deposition...which is a sworn statement used as evidence in a court of law).
Is it just a coincidence…that someone might share some of his thoughts…with some other people... at some other locations on the planet?

European Championships are in Amsterdam. Coincidence???
Why does it say Amsterdam?
Why can't I watch the video on this link that is probably actually from Germany?
(I am not going to say the link is from EAST GERMANY this time!)
Honestly I have no idea. But I noticed it as well when I first posted it. Odd.
Weird because I recieved this email today. So Uka don't think the claims have substance yet the Kenyan police force think they warrant arrest. Something dodgy going on...

Did it ask you not to talk to journalists about doping or risk your funding and team selection, or was that just UK Cycling after Yates's positive?

Right. That second face of incompetence and burying the truth last showed as recently as several days ago:

Just goes to show you how committed is UKA to cover-up doping.
