Great to see AllieO run so well again. Looked like she had a lot in the tank at the end, but I agree that the quick turnaround for the final on Sunday might be relatively more taxing coming off injury. Anyways, one thing is for sure, the NCAA ladies just learned that Allie should certainly be back for XC.

You weren't here during cross country season? There was a ton of discussion about one of the runners. I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, brojos emailed the coach with the concerns. This runner never ran again and hasn't since.
That runner was hit by a truck and didn't run because of that... not because of speculations? They are running for another university now too.
She looked like she was boxed in a few times - isn't this only her second 5000m on track? Probably comparatively inexperienced tactically but just had so much speed

Thank you for posting this. EDs and the Triad need to be discussed more openly and often. It is a shame so many coaches, parents and fans are in denial about their prevalence. The conspiracy of silence destroys lives. In some cases, literally.
I am always amazed at how open LRC posters are to discussions about who is and is not using PEDs, and how resistant they are to observations about EDs. I always wince when I read comments such as "But she's always been thin." I'm reminded of a conversation I had with a client who was also an elite female runner. During one of our sessions, she mentioned EDs. I asked if they were really all that common. She stared at me and asked, "Are you blind?" I felt stupid.
While I agree that issues like eating disorders and ATS should be discussed openly, I dont think it's anyone's place to comment/speculate, especially openly on the Internet, about a specific persons mental/physical health. Even if Allie did have an issue, I think it's rude to discuss it publicly. It is none of our business and we should only be wishing her the best. I know some people mean well, but it equally makes me wince when people doubt someone "always being thin" and throw disorder labels around like they personally know the person. Unless I become BFF's with Allie and have reason to become concerned, then maybe I can have an opinion; and even then, I wouldn't discuss it on the Internet with strangers. And I definitely wouldn't throw around diagnostic labels. Rooting for Allie in the final!
I thought she was smart running close to the rails. I have seen far too many athletes running close to the lap two lane line. There was a discussion earlier in the day about the added distance of doing so.

I feel like we're just going to see a repeat of the 10k in this 5k final. Those girls are far better than anyone else right now. Anything can happen, though.
Wonder if the 10k girls who live at altitude and who didn't return to altitude had more issues with this 5k than those who did go back. I can't remember which training group went back to Park City.

Your comparison is hyperbolic, so it's not clear that you're being serious. Allyson Felix looks no more like a linebacker than Ben True.
But if it's ok to make derogatory remarks about black sprinters, why not about uncommmonly skinny white girls who might have an eating disorder?

I was thinking the same thing as far as seeming to be boxed in. I'm excited to see what she does on Sunday! And yes, it is only her 2nd track 5k, and only her first outdoors.
"boxed in" over analyzed in my view, most races open up the last 100 meters

The 10,000 is already Hasay's main event. Allie and Jordan don't have similar builds. Allie is 20 lbs lighter than Jordan.

She's had Facebook for 5+ years you can see it's true
I know denial is common but it's stupid to raise this as an issue each time a female athlete does a good performance or a bad performance - they are elite athletes they are all thin
