Not a soft event. Rupp beat the EPOpian Bekele brothers who were probably running clean for the first time in a major championship race. Rupp has been tested an average of about once every 16 days over the last three years, the most heavily drug tested distance runner in history. Meanwhile, his chief competitors train in Africa, far away from most out-of-competition testing. People on this board rarely discuss the inequity of that.

Pre was pretty good at times.

Jim Ryun was a bit of a geek on screen. I coulda cared less about what he did off the track. He was thrilling on the oval, that's enough.

I don't need runners to be great interviews, although it is a plus when they are I admit.

there's no "new person" in those interviews. The guy is a terrific runner but don't take it beyond that.
