At least they can, y'know, "commiserate"
Sad to see it end this way. Im guessing he will enter another race or two on some residual fitness when he recovers and then hang them up. I, for one, will really miss his guts to shake up USATF (even if he is a little annoying about it.). I'm sure he will find a way to stay involved.

Are you sure about Maggie? She posted a lifting video just yesterday.
Better adjust your prediction contest selections! I had him finishing first. No reason to think he wouldn't repeat his usual success barring... Well injury like this! And now Chris Derrick and Ben true have got me confused. I figured cd would focus on the 10k and Ben true would give the 5k a serious chance and that Galen is committed in large part to the marathon and 5k is not in the picture. I've got til before midnight in 24 hours methinks
Yes. That was lifting not running...

I told this board that I 100% guaranteed that he was out over a week ago. No one asked me my source but just assumed I was a hater. I am not.
Just a friend of a phsio named Jon Pierce.
Yeah noone saw this one coming...

The guy would be horrible for the sport in an administrative post. I believe he would do whatever he could to get TV/advertising money into track, including making track a sideshow (think beer mile^2). The impression I get is that he just wants to make money and happens to have been a talented runner.
n.b. I do think there are legit issues with USATF and am no shill, I just have been way less than impressed with the guy other than his 800 m. ability.
Indeed. Seems all too often we see a great talent fall to one of two things; not staying at ideal weight/trying to optimize health/recovery or not doing some basic strength training and mobility and fall apart at the seams. Symmonds is the former R. Hall the later (when he was competing).
He's on flowtrack doing an 8*1k. You have to be an idiot or a liar (or both) to do that right now with a torn ligament and stress fracture.
Maybe he has a strained ligament and a mild stress reaction.

Ya wouldn't it be insane if somebody filmed a workout but it didn't go up later?

No change needed here. I didn't have Symmonds on the podium.

If I remember correctly, you can revise your picks on each individual event up until 10 minutes before the gun.

Will John Legere get his money back from the tatoo spot he bought on Nick's shoulder?
Maybe you are unaware just how rich Legare is... that $$ means nothing to him.
http://people.equilar.com/bio/john-legere-t-mobile-us/salary/718735#.V3Uf8cArK70No one buys it once they realize a simple Google search yields this:
https://www.amazon.com/MILITARY-ENERGY-GUM-MEG-Military/dp/B000J267XS
2x the caffeine and MUCH cheaper.

That would require actual work...and from what I've seen from Symmonds (outside of running) work isn't really his thing.
I'm happy I called this last august.
He got fat and slow and is now peddling a story about being injured. He saw the writing on the wall in China and made little attempt to get healthy.
He posted a couple shots of him fishing on instagram. Doesn't seem like it's conducive to getting healthy.
He has been retired fir two years but cannot derive sales for his gum out of the sport. He is now a hanger on.
*Update* I saw Nick on the track at South this morning. He was warming up, jogging in the outer lanes with some other Brooks runners. He had spikes with him so I'm guessing he had some strides to get in. He didn't look to be in pain jogging easy so I figure even if he does have some nagging injuries he'll be on the start line tomorrow.
he probably did that workout over a month ago

So this means that either:
A. He's full of **** and is covering his butt if he bombs
or
B. He's tough as nails.
I'd hope for B, but A is more likely

Smart of Nick to leak this ..
If he DNS..."I was injured"
If he does poorly "I was injured, buy run gum"
If he qualifies...."I qualified for the Olympics even tho I was injured, thanks to run gum"
