K. Bekele, Ayana to run 10000's in Hengelo June 29th 2016

Bekele almost never loses to anyone twice over the same distance in a race he finishes.

(Hicham over 5000m and Eliud over marathon perhaps the only exceptions?)

Kenenisa ALWAYS comes back with a plan, with London 2016 being perhaps the only exception.

The point is, I honestly believe that he would not show up to the Olympics unless he thinks he can drop a 26:36 on Mo, in order to guarantee destroy him.

Therefore, I predict nothing but a masterpiece or a DNF from him this week.

This upcoming update Bekele will be the most important in years.

It´s the complete opposite. Geb stopped being competitive on the track because he, just like KB, had achilles problems and couldn´t do the necassary speedwork on the track.

You think Bekele can outkick Farah in a 26:57 race?

You think he's got a faster last 600m than Mo? Last 1k? Is he going to take it out from a mile out against 3:28 Farah? Last 2k? If it's a fast last 2k and 27:00 total time then it was probably leisurely (for them) up till that point, basically a 3k race.

On the other hand Jeilan might (probably) be in this race too.

Bekele already has two 10K Olympic gold medals. Going for a third title, though will result in more 10K gold medals than Geb, will add very little value to his status from the perspective of Ethiopian as a nation and the Ethiopian fans. On the other hand, a marathon gold is remembered for eternity and elevates one to a very small elite group often referred to as heroes and in the same status as war heroes. Geb would have loved to get it but the pollution in Beijing in 2008 prevented him from chasing the title.

Keni should just train for the win (and maybe the WR) at the Berlin Mararthon.

I think he did very well in London and had the pace been a little bit friendlier, he could have run maybe low 2:04 or even run 2:03 high. That said, I do not think he can run the World record this year, maybe high 2:03 in Berlin. That would be great for him since he will now have the Ethiopian record from Geb. Then next year if he stays healthy, he should be able to break the record.
