Any high school level or above wrestler will be able to take down Rupp during the 10k at the trials. Anyone with any basic martial arts training could do it as well.
Rupp will be caught off guard and not expecting this.
There will be 25 laps during which someone could attack and go for the take down. After the finish, it would be even easier.
Rupp is basically a skinny weak guy. Double or single leg takedown should be easy. Other styles too.
Best to do it on the grass section of infield to minimize any injury.

Mead has been performing very well the last few years. However, Rowland will probably screw-up his peak along with the rest of the OTC guys like he did for last year's USAs.

True was within a second of Rupp last year at the 5k world championships. IMO, True is a stronger runner at the 10k distance than he is at the 5k distance. I think he can get Rupp if Rupp is having a bad day.

i never post about Farah doping because i don't have any facts or inside info. about the situation. I do feel his rise to success smells of doping, but he may also be running at near his limit the last few years, hence the inability to run super fast 5k and 10k times as many of the GOAT threads discuss. He knows what it takes to win and he does it. That's all i will sayI'm saving this thread and will politely type out a brief "i told you so" message after the USA 10k trials when True does not make the team.Best,

You make it sound like PBs are the sole factor in determining race outcomes. "Runner A has a slower PB than Runner B - therefore Runner B has no chance to beat Runner A in any race ever."
True was also within three seconds of Rupp last year at the USATF 10k National Championships. It's not like he's a marathoner without the foot speed to hang at a faster pace. He even beat Rupp in the 5k last year.
Aren't you the same guy who said that True would never make a world championship or Olympic team in the 5000m/10000m....after he had already made the world championship team in the 5000m?

The team should come down to Rupp, Mead, True, or Jenkins. I think any of them could beat Rupp since he's not in peak form due to marathon training. If I were True or Jenkins, I'd only run the 10k if the other person is not running. For instance, if I were Jenkins and I saw True was definitely running the 10k, I would rest for the 5k. I think the 10k will take too much out of those two right now.

Ben True was 3 seconds back in a 28:11 jogfest. Seriously, he's a 5000 guy and very good when healthy. He's shown that he's capable of beating Rupp at that distance but nothing he's done - as has already been posted - suggests any ability to beat Rupp in the 10000.
